Is there someone you care about who’s trans? They (I) need your help. Fill this out and try to change the horrific human rights course we’re on.

I’m reading recs to wait until the last minute to fill this out so it they can’t just draft it and rush it through. I’m hearing this from a few places.

Let's do a roundup of all the letters from different professional sectors objecting to the supreme court ruling & the EHRC's bathroom ban, and promising to defend trans people in their spaces!

For anyone feeling alone in this, look at how many people will stand with us:

I really really hope that the entire justice system isn’t institutionally transphobic and this doesn’t backfire.
The @goodlawproject.bsky.social has announced plans to take the Equalities minister to the high court, the first step in taking the ruling to the European Court of Human Rights

This is what you need to know 🧵👇

I wrote this on young men, and why we need to stop lying about why they're easy prey for reptiles like Andrew Tate.

Economically depressed young men are aggressively targeted with the oldest, most seductive pitch there is — money for nothing — by bad faith actors with enormous wealth

I could write Pride and Prejudice in a week. Maybe even less if I got someone to hold the book and turn the pages as I retype them. When I do that, I’m ‘wasting my time’ but when your LLM does that it’s ‘genius, a real time-saver’.

Ended 2024 by attending a protest! It’s quite heartening how many cars beeped (in a good way - the drivers were smiling/waving) when they saw the trans flags. Transphobia isn’t actually a popular opinion!

Next: a party. Am cold, in bed.

This year’s Christmas Wallace & Gromit had an ACAB subplot, and I’m not sure what to do with that information.

Also - we need to be more aware of what we consume. Never let it just wash over us, as they hope. Change the channel.
Things to add, re: this abomination:
1. Early cinema was consciously weird as fuck. Comparisons to this dead-eyed, industrial-scale regurgitation are inaccurate on every level
2. We - actual people who create things - need to get even weirder & more idiosyncratic. It's the only way
3. Boycott TCL

I have a book out Monday!

Tradwife is a fictional true crime-style reconstruction of a mass murder in a Stepford-esque Tradwife community. It's a little bit In Cold Blood, a little bit Stepford Wives & a little bit Handmaid's Tale.. and you can pre-order it now! 📚💙

I agree with this. I would also say: if you don’t have at least one friend who comes from that culture… why the hell are you trying to write about it?

The fewer people you actually know from that culture, the more likely it is you’re writing about a stereotype in your head not about real people.
Ran across the common writing take: "writing a pov character from a culture other than your own is appropriation."

I would like to offer my substitution: "the further away from your experience your pov character is, the higher the difficulty level."
