i just want a moderate number of people to pay modestly positive attention to things i say and/or do and then immediately forget i exist and leave me alone is that really too much to ask

i don't want to repost this because it's from a serious account about ME/CFS and i don't want to seem like i'm making light of it, but i did enjoy my initial interpretation of this article as a call by a man named Jerry Hayes to end discrimination against Jerry Hayes

they're not abolishing ICE either
or fixing the CDC/FDA/EPA/any other gutted agency you can think of
or even making the previous admin pay for their innumerable crimes
they will put out the fire and expect us to be grateful to live in the ashes

Unfortunately, and I say this as someone who always votes: I have absolutely no confidence that if democrats take over every branch of government with a majority we will get our healthcare back.
“If Jeanne Shaheen or Angus King, or ideally just Chuck Schumer, went to the mics and said: We have tried everything we can to make Republicans give you back your health care. They refuse to do so. The only way you’re going to get your health care back is to elect Democrats.”

if democrats hated republicans as much as the regular people insisting we stop being mad at democrats and focus on hating republicans do, we wouldn't be mad at democrats

I wasn’t interested in this game anyway, but I do appreciate this much attention being paid to an issue that is an absolute dealbreaker for me when I *am* interested in a game
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

been thinking about this a lot
I see posts about how one day there’ll be Nuremberg-style trials for everyone involved in these atrocities and, like, I’d *love* to live in a world where that’s what we get instead of polite calls for bipartisan collaboration on the issues Americans truly care about

are you really going to imprison the goons terrorizing our cities? you just capitulated in a fight that you were very clearly winning

Sen. Kaine on his vote for funding deal
“I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct. 1, because I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed federal worker would say to me at church”

“if you don’t stop being mad at us for caving to fascists you’re helping the fascists 😡”
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Millions of active, engaged people, who literally less than a week earlier won massive and unexpected victories across the entire country, have now thoroughly learned the lesson that they don't fucking need dem leaders.
That they have to view dem leadership as much of an enemy as the republicans

i wish the "focus this energy on fighting republicans" people could understand why it's not great that the people whose banner we're expected to fight republicans under keep demonstrating how little interest *they* have in fighting republicans

everyone who’s suffering and about to suffer more just needs to hold on until we can get the Good Guys back in power, at which point they will eventually temporarily undo 15% of the prior 4 years’ devastation while huffily chiding anyone expecting more for not understanding how things actually work

was this what these particular eight senators thought or was this the embarrassing, paper-thin excuse concocted for the eight short straw-pullers from the available pool of senators not up for reelection for another several years
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy
they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

i just saw some numb fuck unironically say "staying home is a vote for the fascists" tonight of all nights, the red mark still fresh from the slap in the face we all just received, and you know what i think that'll do, i think that's enough social media for me this evening

i would tell @democrats.org i'm a swing-state independent who's voted blue in every election since 2002 and that if party leadership still looks like this in 2028 i will be dead and screaming in hell before i ever do so again, but if anything has been made clear tonight it's that they wouldn't care

as much contempt as we may have for them in this moment it pales in comparison to the contempt they have for us
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

i for one will be remembering well beyond 2028 that democrats not only capitulated to the fascists but they called us stupid to our fucking faces while doing so
None can be primaried in the next cycle, Shaheen & Durbin retiring.
Hassan, Masto, Fetterman up for reelection in 2028.
Rosen, Kaine, King up for reelection in 2030.

how they'll tell us democracy is on the line
how they'll chide us for expecting anything of them apart from having a different letter in front of their names than the Bad Guys
