Ex Seattle TV anchor Eric Johnson who claimed the city was dying in one special and then another called 'Fighting for the Soul of Seattle' is crowned King of Seafair. Guess he was wrong with that reporting claptrap for Sinclair. Basking now, eh?

Great book from a great broadcaster on the national level, including the famous Tyson-Holyfield ear extravaganza. Go for it. Costas foreword, real life humor unmatched.

It's official, KING5 Seattle has lost another co-host from Evening. Jim Dever's farewell note at
tvnuggetmaster.blogspot.com. He follows Kim Holcomb, who left in the summer.

According to @fox13seattle VelVEETA has a new liquid pouch product called VelVETTA but I see no mention of it anywhere on the web. Even so, VelVEETA makes it, not the other name. Who edits this misinformation?

Cheryl Carson is stepping away from her News Director job at WJLA (in the other Washington) to care for elderly parents. She was News Director at KING for three years, succeeding Mark Ginther. Her tenure at Sinclair in DC concludes at the end of February (of course, after the Feb sweeps!)

Kudos to PNW Red Cross Comms director @betsyeleanor.bsky.social Betsy Robertson who's helping out in fire-ravaged LA. Caught a shot of her in an NBC fire-related vignette during pre-game of Rams-Philly playoff today. Ex-newsie at KING and NWCN in Seattle and longtime Shoreline WA council member.

Hey Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier made a sale. His DC mansion for $25 million. Biggest ever in that city. Sold to the new Secretary of Commerce. Five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Monty Webb, meteorologist at KNDU in Tri-Cities is hanging up his barometer. He worked at KIRO Seattle and also at the old NWCN. Wishing a good retirement to the FULL MONTY!

We now know where ex-KIRO7 Sports Director Chris Francis has landed. It's a privately-funded web based journo site called Straight Arrow News.

Ian Furness, of Seattle sports radio and TV hockey, posted his Heisman vote for nearby Boise State star Ashton Jeanty. The surprise was that he completely (and deliberately?) ignored the favorite and eventual winner from Colorado. I guess he wanted to avoid the Travis Hunter bandwagon effect.

First peek at KOMO's new main male anchor Chris Nguyen with Mary Nam. Full schedule next week

As Tegna regionalizes marketing, Jay Yovanovich, marketing and programming boss at KING5, becomes a regional manager. Rank and file jobs are being lost in this hub concept, reportedly more than 300 across all of the companies' stations. Already happened at KREM in Spokane, per sources.

KOMO leads 6 pm news Wednesday with a shooting in NE Seattle with an irrelevant file drone shot. Meant nothing to anyone. Where is this???? Typical alarmist BS.
December 12, 2024 at 2:23 AM
This is why @fox13seattle should not use weather people to co-anchor hard news. Not ready for prime time on the left.
December 8, 2024 at 1:52 AM
Broke the news almost two months ago and now it's official. KIRO 97.3 FM news boss Charlie Harger is replacing longtime and now retiring morning show host Dave Ross. Dave's last show is the 19th. No word yet on who will replace Charlie running the news dept. More at tvnuggetmaster.blogspot.com

Word that former KOMO Seattle intern, Chris Nguyen, is returning as the new evening news main male anchor after stints with CNN and others, including KGO in SFO. Chris just left Scripps News amid their major anchor cuts and residual chaos. He replaces Eric Johnson, who retired in June.

Great to see a guy who is now a Seattle sports radio regular at KJR-FM 93.3, but far better known in the PNW for taking the Seahawks to a Super Bowl, Mike Holmgren is a 2025 NFL Hall of Fame Finalist. Voting to come.

Great to see the talented Margaret Larson return to her home base of Seattle after some time in North Carolina. She anchored news at NBC and two Seattle stations in addition to hosting a morning lifestyle show. She wrote a column about it at www.northwestprimetime.com

Got a quick review of King5's Seahawks 5th Quarter Post game show at the blog. It was a no-Walter J show.

Well look who turned up doing weekend weather at KIRO7 Sat. night, Natasha Stenbock, a refugee from KOIN in Portland. Maybe she is replacing real estate agent and substitute weatherman Scott Haveson. Stay tuned. She was Chief Met at KOIN. Budget cut there at the fabulous Nexstar company?
December 1, 2024 at 5:23 PM

KOMO called on reporter Ryan Simms to step in for Lee Stoll Sunday, whose last weekend morning show was Saturday. On a holiday weekend of staffing, hard to know if this is a one-off or the harbinger of a permanent assignment. Regardless, Theron Zahn and Stella Sun doing double duty on weather.

Another loss at KOMO Seattle as weekend morning anchor moves on. Retirement bash for three others this upcoming week.
