It was a volunteer moderator's mistake. I can't wait for new rumors to accompany the amazon spyware ones. Canonical kills trans people and replaces them with robots running Ubuntu Core.

Hard disagree. Also ubiquity has been abandoned, this is Ubuntu Desktop Bootstrap snapcraft.io/ubuntu-deskt...
A flutter frontend for subiquity, the server installer
Install ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap on Linux | Snap Store
Get the latest version of ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap for Linux - Ubuntu Desktop Bootstrap

Do uncut people exist in your opinion?

At least you don't have to worry about forgetting your password. You can just call the government

if you install plasma on ubuntu it literally turns your system into kubuntu. Neofetch will show the logo even.

the 670mb ISO doesn't even come with a DE. This is not a fair comparison

Why is anyone accepting this as the absolute truth? I hate the internet so much.

Now he will be known as the rapist even tho the only proof is a testimony by an anonymous person, after many years after the incident.

I hope he sues everyone for libel.

I've noticed it being used more often, even in completely unrelated stuff like those AI Reddit reading shorts. It's a beautiful font.

Ooo. That's very cool.
March 24, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Unfortunately both of these rely on Bing/Google for most of their results. Independent indexes are almost nonexistent besides things like Brave or Mojeek, both american.

I love the curved edge near the minimize button. This looks almost as pretty as the new Ubuntu installer... and it will probably actually install the OS.
January 31, 2025 at 10:08 AM
Did you report it? This seems like a serious bug.
January 23, 2025 at 3:40 PM
I have a question: Why was the message edit button moved to the top bar? It used to be located right above the message I pressed and held.

This isn't ergonomic at all.

Btw you can update directly from an LTS to LTS. 22.04 > 24.04. It can fail too but it's not as widespread since it's just one jump instead of 4.
January 17, 2025 at 8:34 AM
What matters is the friends you made along the way, not actually using the OS.

- Person responsible for the new flutter installer, probably.

Try "Safe Graphics" while the USB boots. It's a known issue within the new release.
January 17, 2025 at 7:59 AM
I'm glad to hear you found something that works for you.

May the best tech win. I frankly don't care what Fedora is doing. Ubuntu and Debian won't go atomic ever (the existence of Core Snaps depends on regular Ubuntu) and that's enough for me.
January 16, 2025 at 12:09 PM
It's not certain how would Microsoft implement this. Even in atomic Linux distros you can't really install anything unless it's a flatpak or runs inside of a podman container running a regular distro.

Forcing developers to adapt to a new system like this is not a good idea, imo.

If they are meant for gaming/a chromebook competitor, I have nothing against it. They work well for single purpose tasks. But claiming they are the future of every distro is delusional.
January 16, 2025 at 11:48 AM
Or things could stay the way they are and each update would be actually tested. Why force immutability into Windows?
January 16, 2025 at 11:39 AM
Immutability is not the future. It's just a different way of building operating systems. And I don't think it suits Linux or Windows at all.
January 16, 2025 at 11:36 AM
I need to be able to do real work on a workstation, not be limited by bullshit such as an app being distributed as a snap but immutable distros settled on flatpak so fuck you. I also refuse to rely on containers of real linux distros to run "legacy" apps such as syncthing.
January 16, 2025 at 11:35 AM
Nothing inherently wrong. Android is immutable, so is ios and it works great for them. Windows or Linux has never been immutable and I see no benefit to it on the desktop.
January 16, 2025 at 11:34 AM
I really hope Windows never becomes atomic. (The main Linux distros fortunately don't plan to become immutable either.)

Compatibility with old software is key for Windows' success.
