And… Regional Committee supports a full ION light rail extension to Cambridge 15 to 1! Onwards to Cambridge!

Councillor Harris:
-excellent report
-world class cities have rail transit, proud to see the relatively full ION vehicles today
-other communities have had more of their capital share covered, hope to see that here
-LRT major factor in clear growth along the line in KW
-will connect to all day GO

-not the time for hesitation, there’s a cost to standing still
-support from all demographics for ION light rail
-community pulling together to advocate for this
-there’s risks but this is a proven system, we don’t want to be a community left behind
-onward to Cambridge and beyond!

-do need rapid transit in Cambridge, wants BRT
-development on corridor isn’t business

-part of larger transit system, with broader plans for increases
-compelling points about accessibility and this as investment in health
-this project transcends individual council mandates — this kind of enduring vision gives us credibility to get funding and build this system
