This bumblebee is entranced with a volunteer clematis in my yard. Could the plant be an Alamama Leather Flower? I live a mile from Lake Michigan.

PFC Joseph Williams 4th, age 21 of Ludington, Michigan, was killed during the Korean War, September 21, 1952. The only child of Joseph and Hazel Beebe Williams. Standing with his grandfather in 1950.

Thirty years ago, a friend from Denmark gave this to me, which is now growing in northern Michigan. She declared it to be Hepatica transsilvanica. The heavily lobed leaves have just begun to emerge. Perhaps you can confirm the species.
