The Reactor is Critical

Just a group of people trying to brighten the world for naval nuclear operators (and friends), past and present and future.
Nukes are fascinating creatures. On one hand, most are trusted to operate a no-shit nuclear reactor by the time they turn 22. On the other hand, they have to be reminded that a Zyn addiction and paying $950/mo for a F450 Double Lariat XL isnt the foundation for a personality. Man's duality.

You know airport food sucks about as much as boat food but at least I never had to pay $47.07 for a lukewarm BBQ sandwich and weakest margarita of all time before sitting in one uncomfortable spot for 8 damn hours on the boat.

Hot take but just because someone is bad at getting qualified doesn't mean you have a right to treat them like a piece of shit. If you need to be mean to get people under you to do things, you're just bad at leading people altogether.

Boys, girls, sailors, and khaki-bearers, I'm on a plane. The east coast wasn't cold enough for my wife, so we're on our way to the Midwest to properly freeze our butts off. Before I long for the simple comforts of ERUL, I'm here to answer your questions as is tradition. Ask me anything!

I wish nukes got a yearly wrap up on their work-year life they do on Spotify:
- Out of the 15 weekends you had in port, 11 of them at least had 1 duty day
- You've spent $1,026 on energy drinks
- Time spent starting at the Prx Meter: 1,557 hrs, 10 min, 1 sec
- Reactor Accidents Prevented: 0.05

Getting some reccomendations to join LinkedIn to voice more serious opinions in a forum better suited for it. But, I feel the desire to still meme my heart out. Maybe I start a sub-brand called "Nautical Reactors"?

I learned a new term today: Vocational Awe- the idea that, in some jobs, workers are taught to hold the job in such high regard that the work itself is beyond critique. Workers accept poor working conditions, lack of recognition, and inevitable burnout as a mission-critical cost. @usnavy.bsky.social

Tempted to name our Black Friday sales "Black Friday Blowdown" but I know you people and I know I can't trust you with something like that.

I am working on some graphics to show off King's Bay in an upcoming design and I have realized there is not a single piece of natural beauty or happiness in that entire region. King's Bay sailors- I'm sorry for your loss.
