I get your frustration. If there's a silver lining to all of this, maybe it's that it shows there's division in the caucus and it's time for new leadership. The Old Guard was never going to do anything about income and wealth inequality, in fact, a lot of it was their fault. It's time for a change.

I'm right there with ya!

Standing up and fighting is what helped them win a shit ton of elections on Tuesday, and that's not nothing.
November 10, 2025 at 6:03 AM
A lot of people did suffer, and there is no good in that, but their standing up to begin with is probably what helped them do so well on Tuesday.

People's health insurance costs aren't going to go up immediately because the motion passed, but people are going to be able to eat because it did.
November 10, 2025 at 5:54 AM
Got it. I thought Democrats were upset at the President for not spending funds the way Congress had authorized, so it sounded weird that he would be forced to do exactly that.

To be honest, I don't really understand how funding works, so I'm just going to say thanks for answering my question.
November 10, 2025 at 5:49 AM
That doesn't sound right. Because you were not in compliance, we are going to force you to illegally redirect money to fully fun SNAP?
November 10, 2025 at 5:32 AM
I don't understand how they could force the administration to pay more than the contingency fund. I would think the difference between the full amount and the contingency fund would have to be authorized by Congress.
November 10, 2025 at 5:25 AM
That could have taken a week, maybe longer, and in the meantime people are hungry and they've got no money for food.

If it had gone to SCOTUS, I think they would have forced him to use all of the contingency fund, but that's it, and that wasn't enough to fully fund the month of November.
November 10, 2025 at 5:11 AM
Exactly. If every Democrat had voted yes and put forth that exact same message, voters would have understood. But the only thing that sucks more than the Democratic Party's leadership, is their ability to message.
November 10, 2025 at 3:58 AM
The only way that Democrats come out ahead a year from now is if the ACA credits don't get renewed and Republicans get blamed. I don't want people's rates to go up or to lose their insurance, but I also like my democracy, & unless we get Republican voters to switch their vote it's not looking good.
November 10, 2025 at 3:55 AM
And if they message it right, they can be seen a saving 40 million people from starving.
November 10, 2025 at 3:48 AM
I don't understand why anyone thinks the House, the Senate, and the President of the United States we're all going to go along with extending the ACA credits. That was never going to happen. They got to be seen as fighters before the last election, and insured that 40 million people wouldn't starve.
November 10, 2025 at 3:38 AM
At the end of the day, they voted to make sure 40 million people didn't starve. That's the message. That really should be the Democrat's message.
November 10, 2025 at 3:28 AM
It doesn't have to be this way though. Stop protesting at ICE facilities. There's too many people doing stupid shit so they can get on TV. Have them in a park or at City Hall, or better yet, spend your time and energy making sure all of your neighbors are registered to vote. We win with numbers.
November 10, 2025 at 3:19 AM
That's why ICE is being so violent. And it's only going to get worse when they hire more less experienced, more violent agents. People will protest, Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act, and he'll keep the troops on the streets to act as a deterrent to voting, or straight up cancel the elections.
November 10, 2025 at 3:07 AM
Because it demonstrated before the recent elections that Democrats were willing to fight. But they were never going to win this fight. The House was never going to renew the ACA credits.

Now they can also run on the President of the United States being willing to let poor people starve.
November 10, 2025 at 2:55 AM
I think you would agree that democracy is in trouble. I think you would also agree that if Democrats don't take the House in 2026, democracy is in BIG trouble.

So answer me this: does renewing the ACA credits gain Democrats any votes? How about if Republicans take the blame for not renewing them?
November 10, 2025 at 2:51 AM
The House was never going to extend the ACA credits. Never. This was the best they could do.

Oh yeah, and it ensures that 40 million people aren't going to go hungry. That's a pretty good message.
November 10, 2025 at 2:45 AM
They also insured that 40 million people wouldn't go hungry.
November 10, 2025 at 2:41 AM
I get that it was beneficial for Democrats to be seen as fighting. But what would they have gained at the ballot box if they had gotten the ACA credits extended? All they would have done was maintain the status quo, and Republican voters are not going to switch their vote for that.
November 10, 2025 at 2:33 AM
Project 2028 has a much better sound than Project 2026.
November 10, 2025 at 2:26 AM
The only way there's political consequences for the Republicans is if the ACA credits don't get renewed. If Democrats had held out to get them renewed, all they would have done was maintain the status quo, and not a single Republican voter would have changed their vote as a result.
November 10, 2025 at 2:19 AM
This is the best deal you're going to get. The President of the United States was going to let 40 million people go hungry. Getting people fed is more important than someone's health insurance rates possibly going up.
