Avid reader, formerly a struggling writer, now just struggling. Long-time comic book reader and fan.
Since it started earlier in the year, I have enjoyed the current Supergirl series by @mooncalfe1.bsky.social. The stories have a lot of heart and quirks that have made all seven issues published so far quite enjoyable. Hope #DCComics is #AllIn on this series. Readers need more books like Supergirl.

Funny, that was the same photo of MJ on the Human Nature single. I think I had a generic Epic Records sleeve for the Thriller single.

I’d say this is one of the best comics to read on Halloween. Batman, the Reaper, the Rutland Halloween parade, and a party with a bunch of people dressed as DC and Marvel characters. #halloweenreads #DCClassics #Batman

I’m always behind on my reading, but for this #porchreads, I had to read the Justice League Omega Act special. It’s all build up to DC KO, which I’ve yet to read and have not seen any spoilers yet. Enjoyable read and it does build anticipation for the big event.

All-Star Squadron has been a title that I’ve always wanted to read all the way through, but never had or could find the issues. In recent months, I’ve been able to grab a majority of the issues for decent prices. I have enjoyed every issue so far. #allstars #jsa #porchreads

To me, the Ghost Machine line has been solid. Redcoat is one of the best reads of the line. Intriguing story, great art, lots of historic content. All enjoyable. The ending of this particular issue will be tying into another #ghostmachine issue coming soon. #porchreads

I’m not a big fan of Bizarro, but this story arc has been a fun read. Again, @markwaid.bsky.social knows how to write concepts that may be viewed unfavorably at one time and make them relevant, understandable, and fun to read. #porchreads

The Bat-Man: First Knight was one of the best DC Black Label series I have read. Dan Jurgens, Mike Perkins, and Mike Spicer continue with a second series and an excellent first issue. I loved the adventure and the villain for this story. Hate I have to wait for the second issue! #porchreads

I started getting Batman and Detective on a regular basis around 1984 with Batman 373. The cover freaked me out a little, but the Colan/Alcala art was creepier. The Scarecrow became one of my favorites because of this issue and the concluding story in 'Tec 540.

Reading Phantom Road 15 and I must say this arc was quite compelling. Hate that we won’t have more coming until 2026, but it will be satisfying when it comes back. Still, Jeff Lemire has to keep writing solid stories on JSA. #porchreads

My first Batman comic? I have two. Brave and the Bold 154 and 155. They were two of the first four comic books I ever owned. However, the first Batman or Detective Comic issue I owned was Batman 365. I still remember reading that book on the back porch of my childhood home.

Not a #porchreads, but I still have to say what a brilliant series Absolute Wonder Woman is. @kellythompson.bsky.social and @cleanlined.bsky.social have been crafting a masterpiece of a series that has turned the mythos on its head, yet still keeping the character traits that make Diana a hero

Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League feels like Ocean’s 11 meets the DCU. So far, it’s been a fun ride reading the two issues that have been released. I have been pleased to see @gregrucka.com and @nicolascottart.bsky.social back working on DC characters. #porchreads

FML by @kellysue.bsky.social and David Lopez has been a fun read since it started earlier in the year. The ways DeConnick depicts chaos within the family and circles of friends makes you concerned, but entertained. This series is one I look forward to every time a book is in the stack. #porchreads

#porchreads are back with the new Batman #1. I wasn’t fond of restarting with another number one issue, but I guess with a new direction by @mattfraction.bsky.social, I guess there was justification. It’s an interesting read with some promise on maybe ending Vandal Savage’s control of Gotham.

The Titans 2025 annual by @philjimeneznyc.bsky.social was one of the best annuals and single issues I’ve read in a while. I think this gives Donna Troy the clearest origin story she’s ever had. And what an emotional read this was. Fantastic story. #titans #teentitans #dccomics #donnatroy #wondergirl

Time for Fantastic Four!

Still not #porchreads, but I have to say something about these books. I never knew much about Michael Holt, so Mr. Terrific: Year One has been an educational read. And if you wanted to read a F4-like family from the future who move to a 21st century suburb, The Rocketfellers is that book for you.

Again, not a #porchread, but this was such a great, fun, humor-filled series. Al Ewing and Steve Lieber crafted an under appreciated run on an under appreciated character. Hope DC Comics brings back these creators and characters back for another run. #bringbackmetamorpho

Time to see Superman!

It’s too hot to do any #porchreads, but I still had to highlight some of the comics I’ve read recently. This two-part JLA/JSA team-up was a story I’ve enjoyed for years, but just recently realized it did get fully resolved in the JSA series. I’ll need to find those issues eventually.

News From the Fallout 1 was creepy and disturbing. The tension builds from panel to panel and the cliffhanger at the end creates anticipation for what’s to come. I will be adding this to the pull list. Solid first issue from @christophcondon.bsky.social and Jeffrey Alan Love.

Folks, if you have a comic shop near you, let them know what you’re seeking. Sometimes you never know when that one book will show up. After briefly discussing this series on their Instagram page, O found the only issue I was missing at Acme Comics. Now, @lordretail.bsky.social, I need Crisis 1!
