I lost a few friends in the 1990s to AIDS, mostly to suicide and AIDS. That it's gone in my lifetime from a death sentence to a chronic manageable condition is a fucking miracle that reduces me to inchoate joy whenever I think about it.

Melissa was part of the “Be Here for the Cure” campaign in 1993. She was 21 yo. She’s still here, more than three decades later. Sometimes, when the present makes me sad or scared, I think about the courage that those young people had to stand up and fight — for their lives — against the stigma.

Also something that seems to help is responding to comments. My videos are generally instructional so that is already kind of part of the process, but even if yours aren't, a "thank you" to nice comments seems to help
