Back at @bas.ac.uk and the scale model of the Sir David Attenborough is so much more fun when you can spot your own cabin. Wishing I was back south and not in the Cambridge heat though! 🥵

Two days, two school visits, two excellent sets of students, thanks yr 8 @hebburncomp.bsky.social & yr 12 @ St Mary's! Hopefully a few future glaciologists inspired by my adventures on Boaty McBoatface (picture taken by one of the SDA crew in Lemaire Channel 🇦🇶, I'm on the tiny boat by the big berg!)

Two days, two school visits, two excellent sets of students, thanks yr 8 @hebburncomp.bsky.social & yr 12 @ St Mary's! Hopefully a few future glaciologists inspired by my adventures on Boaty McBoatface (picture taken by one of the SDA crew in Lemaire Channel 🇦🇶, I'm on the tiny boat by the big berg!)
We came looking for chlorophyll and our acoustician found this... At 180m tall I guess we found out where the monster hangs out when not in Loch Ness @biopole.bsky.social?

In 2021 I got to see the finished ship when she docked at Greenwich before her first trip to Antarctica. I got to come and talk polar science with @cosmicshambles.com and @helenczerski.bsky.social but my science was still very firmly on the ice ❄️

In 2016 @tjy511.bsky.social and I were lucky enough to be invited to the keel laying for the RRS Sir David Attenborough through @ukpolarnetwork.bsky.social. Neither of us ever expected to go on the ship but there was a free breakfast and we almost got a selfie with the man himself 🚢

It's nice to be shown "nice landforms" by Chris in the safety of an EGU lecture than from the car in Greenland while he was definitely much more excited about the landforms than the direction the road was going in 😂

I've been quiet on here recently as term time is a lot (combined with the small matter of finally getting to own our own house) but we rounded off the term with a beautiful trip to Oban with our 2nd year Geographers and now it's finally time to remember how to science again at EGU 🥶🇦🇹

Spent yesterday attempting to survive a simulated storm in a life raft. Was great not to be the only lady the PPE was too big for (sigh) but enjoyed meeting some awesome ocean going scientists also working in the North East.
Felt quite seasick after so that bodes well for the Drake Passage 😂😂
