Most of the #deforestation tends to be concentrated in a small number of municipalities. Only 61 municipalities in #Brazil accounted for 50% of deforestation for cattle pasture in 2023. Focusing action on these hotspots could significantly reduce deforestation and conversion.

⚠️We welcome the news that the EU has reached agreement on #EUDR country risk benchmarking classifications. However, we remain concerned that the chosen methodology has led to country rankings which do not accurately reflect the #deforestation and legal risks in areas of commodity production.

🌳The latest Global Forest Watch data shows that 2024 was the highest year for tropical primary forest loss in at least two decades. Governments, businesses and financial institutions must take this as their cue to drive systemic change⬇️
