Excellent to see Trase Co-Director Toby Gardner moderating the exciting launch of this FAO report at #COP30.
New @fao.org report shows that rather than driving conflict, #forests drive success in #agriculture.

The report was led by SEI's @rafaelaflach with Selorm Kugbega co-leading a chapter and prepared in collaboration with @nature.org and Conservation International.

💡Trase’s analytical expertise supported the creation of #EUDR & Forest Risk Commodities due diligence legislation. We also worked with the French government to develop a risk dashboard for soy imports under the national strategy to combat imported #deforestation.

⚠️Atlantic Forest is the most degraded biome in Brazil as agriculture continues to drive deforestation. 21% of soybeans sold by Brazil in 2022 originated here, new Trase data finds. With COP30 coming, Brazil needs to strengthen protection of this precious biome⬇️

⚠️To translate the Kunming-Montreal mechanisms into action, particularly to monitor & respond to #biodiversity impacts driven by consumption and trade, the GEIC indicator is valuable. Its absence from the CBD risks weakening the frameworks to guide international progress.
