1883 Golding Pearl and 1874 Daughaday Improved Model No. 2. The Pearl needs new rollers and the bracket holding the ink plate needs to be replaced. I have a treadle that I need to put on it. And build the wood drawers. Need to clean up the surface rust on the Daughaday.

This morning’s long weekend leisure reading. Would love to know about more trans authors who are self publishing printed zines/chapbooks. Drop your recommendations here. (I stay up on digital self publishing. I’m wanting more material objects.)

Getting in some more relaxing on day two of my 6 day weekend before I get back to writing the dissertation. Finished McKinney’s book on Pee Wee Herman and started Raving by McKenzie Wark last night. I’m in my minigraph era of pleasure reading.

The benefit of teaching a Mon/Wed schedule this semester is that I’ve got a 6 day weekend because of Labor Day. Trying to balance relaxing with all the writing I need to do over the next six days.

NBD, just looking at several copies of the Eliot Bible: translated from English to Massachusett by John Eliot, printed 1661 (New Testament) and 1663 (Old Testament). It was the first Bible printed in colonial British America and the first Bible translated into an indigenous American language.

NBD, just looking at the first printed book in British North America, aka the Bay Psalm Book.

Went to the @illinoisrbml.bsky.social to look at a copy of Mather’s Magnalia Christi American with his 2 page errata slip. Pleasantly surprised (because I didn’t read the full cat. record) that the copy belonged to Isaiah Thomas. Shout out to @jgarc.bsky.social for recommending the Magnalia to me.

Today's spontaneous purchase was the course packet "Printmaking Notes" for John Talleur's Fall 1966 printmaking course at University of Kansas. Talleur was the previous owner of my 1883 Hoe & Co iron hand press, which made its way to me via the Lawrence Art Center.
