When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Very nice to see another version of this effect that can hit any target— the last two times we’ve gotten one of these they haven’t gone face.

Also worth noting:
Funko Pop shelf is an entirely valid aesthetic to build towards if it’s what you like.
The big thing to remember is that are just so many good mechanical options these days that you can be selective with your aesthetics without sacrificing gameplay!

Someone asked me yesterday, "what if I *don't* have aesthetics in my #mtgcube?"
No such thing, even if you design mechanics-first. In 2018, if you just added cool mechanics, the end result might feel like a love letter to Magic, or a Magic HOF. In 2025 it'll be more like a funko pop bookshelf :/

Cube curators used to pine for "a strong Black 4-drop". Then came 2018. Then we wanted "mechanics to support my rules-modified cube". Then came 2025.
