Coping mechanisms. Heated blanket, Bobo, Stardew Valley, and Suits. Normally I’m working or doing kid bed time this time of night but having a hard time sticking to the plan in the fall of democracy.

My six-year-old daughter asked me what this sign said. I read it to her. She asked me what it meant. I asked her what she thought it meant.

“That brown people are just as good as white people?”

She gets it. If only more adults did too.

As another peek into the process, this book, "Call Your Father," is coming out at some point in Spring 2026. We're working on the illustrations more than a year out. It takes a long time to make a beautiful book!

Pssst there is a cute dog and so far it kind of looks like MY DOG! Pic for tax.

Royal is not a rescue--I've known her breeders my whole life and snapped her up when they were getting out of the racing world. She's only four and she loves learning to jump so far. Bobo the dog is a rescue who now has a very cushy life!

I suppose I should reintroduce myself! I write picture books, freelance edit all sorts of books, teach writing classes, and love horses and dogs, especially rescues! Here's my thoroughbred mare Royal for cuteness points! My books are about families and nature. One day I'll get a horse book out!

"Call Your Mother" is officially published today! Making reviewers (and me!!) cry since the first digital ARC hit. This one feels really special and on my Instagram tracycgold you can see me definitely NOT cry as I talk about my own mom. More info on this book here: tracycgold.com/books/

Book news! We're so excited for "Call Your Mother" to come out in March that we've already lined up "Call Your Father" for 2026! So excited to work with Familius and illustrator Vivian Mineker again.

Thanks to Carrie Pestritto for making this deal!

In happier news this audio book coming out at the end of the month is a distracting and delightful cozy mystery! I haven’t read the first Molly Gray book and so far this one stands alone. The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose.

Just finished The Other Side of Midnight by Simone St. James and you’re going to want to preorder this one if you’re a fan of Paula Brackston, Maisie Dobbs, anything involving history/mystery and a little (or a lot) of magic. Stayed up way too late listening to this one.
