My #ArtistFave15 #MusicChallenge for November is for me, the quintessential post-punk and gothic rock band, Siouxsie & The Banshees.

My #ArtistFaveLP #MusicChallenge this month is my favorite Peter Gabriel album... Peter Gabriel, also known as Melt. A great listen in a discog with no bad albums.

Too fucking young, man. Three incredible albums with 0 skips necessary. It's fucking stupid that much of the focus was on his image rather than the landmark albums. That bothered him, and I hope he was able to see the love people have for his work as an artist.

My #20SongsByYear #MusicChallenge is continuing from last month; we are sticking with the 70s, focusing on the year 1971. So many artists are firing on all cylinders across a wide range of genres and backgrounds.

My #ArtistFave15 #MusicChallenge pick for October is King Crimson. Multiple distinct eras of groundbreaking albums that challenged both the musicians and the listeners. Influence on music that is impossible to overstate.

My #ArtistFave15 #MusicChallenge for September is going to be Deep Purple. I hold them right next to Sabbath as the hard rock/metal bands that I hold closest to the heart. An iconic and influential discography with a rotating cast of elite level musicians.

My #ArtistFave70s #MusicChallenge will be for the underrated early adopters of heavy metal, Budgie! Incredibly consistent albums with that heavy of blues, hard rock muscle, and progressive rock experimentation.

This might become a thread of album covers that I get a kick out of. I love the idea of a holiday release album cover being Donald Fagen looking uncomfortable and disapproving of the whole thing.

My #ArtistFave15 pick for this month is the one of a kind David Bowie. A master of reinvention & a musical chameleon who always kept his music fresh & with a feeling of mystery. Bowie is an artist I can return to time & time again & always get something new out of the material.

Black Sabbath means so much to me, a foundational band in my youth that I never lost love for. The early solo albums as well. Outside of that, he is THE inspiration behind countless bands that I love & bands I will find in the future. Heart feels a bit empty, but Ozzy's music is locked in my DNA.

I haven't heard it yet, but Splitsville (they made that incredible Complete Pet Soul album) dropped their first album in over two decades. I did not have this on my bingo card.

20: Hedvig Mollestad - Ekhidna

Finishing off the list with this kickass album. It mixes the familiar sound of traditional hard rock with complex jazz rock and avant garde prog sections.

My pick for the #ArtistFave80s challenge is none other than the trailblazing Kate Bush. A towering figure in pop music who pushed pop music into different dimensions and inspired countless artists doing it.

Perfect timing with the long-awaited sequel arriving soon. There is some very clever sampling throughout this album.

18: Demoniac - So It Goes

Face melting thrash metal. The more I think about it, the more I think it was the best metal release of 2020.

15: Taku Yabuki - Modern World Symphony No.3

One of the finest jazz fusion releases of the year. The playing here has such a punch to its delivery and is filled with energy. Taku Yabuki's best album.

14: Kansas - The Absence of Presence

I think some legacy bands that are still going today get pity praise from people trying to grasp any bit of their prime listening years. For me, Kansas doesn't fall in that category. Not a top album, but a strong showing.

13: The Szuters - Sugar

No need to reinvent the wheel with this one. Just 40 minutes of feel good power pop drenched in Beatlesque tendencies. Hook it into my veins!

A rap album that sounds like it's in its own universe. One of my favorites the genre has produced this decade so far.
