Proving that in the short-term at least, cutting staff, service and quality of care produces healthy profits at for-profit healthcare corporations.

Admissions rising points out declining health in the area coupled with (currently at least) very few alternative hospital options.

You're spot on to call out "currently". Remember how many challenges there were to Roe v Wade before the court finally took on one they felt would give them judicial cover to throw it under the bus. Same will be true for Obergefell v Hodges until a Dem POTUS gets a chance to rebalance SCOTUS.

Republicans are absolutely the best at smiling while lying.

It's like somebody rebooted Jesse Ventura.

People are living longer. Or at least they WERE until MAHA, coupled with the unaffordability or loss of healthcare benefits under the tRump regime starts shortening their lives. If you start at 18 you might pay off the 15 year car loan before your 1st kid & the mortgage before you die! #GoldenAge

Make that 9. Even though Schumer technically voted No, he's such a weak leader he couldn't hold the caucus in order to pressure the GOP to reach an appropriate deal.

@aoc.bsky.social let us know when you announce your run against Schumer for his Senate seat in 2028 so I can donate on ActBlue.
November 11, 2025 at 12:05 AM
Why would he? The GOP won when the Dem 8 demonstrated how to roll over & play dead.
November 10, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Yep. I loathed Mitch McConnell but at least he was effective in getting things done for his party.
November 10, 2025 at 11:49 PM
>When will party leadership learn this lesson?

They won't. Time to replace those who let this debacle happen & let the GOP off the hook with basically nothing to show for it (Schumer, are you listening?).
November 10, 2025 at 11:46 PM
I wouldn't have said this a few months ago, but hopefully when their terms are up they'll all be primaried by Democrats who have more vision & courage of their convictions. In former times, these 8 would be moderate Republicans. Hopefully there will also be a change in Democratic Senate leadership!

Absolutely great Canadian roots music by one of their best ever singer-songwriters.

Time for Senator Schumer to step down as Senate Minority Leader, or be voted out by the Democratic caucus. He's completely ineffective in today's political climate. Things have changed and it's time for a leadership change now, too.

Did you make it down to the Lower RAD? There's still a lot of damage there, but the Marquee is back even better than before!

Asheville's River Arts District (RAD) hosted RAD Fest 2.0 today & again tomorrow from 10 AM to 5 PM. All studios open in the Upper RAD plus pop up artists' booths in a couple of the parking lots. If you go, you gotta checkout the recently re-opened Marquee in the Lower RAD. Even better than before!

Shelby is a nice little town. Pleasant City Wood Fired Grille has great pasta & pizza. It's definitely worth a little drive outside of Shelby to nearby Fallston to visit Baker Farm & Winery at Buffalo Creek. Live music on weekends (weather permitting), good wine, charcuterie boards & food trucks.

Exactly. Your kindly family doctor makes a house call when you need him, and you pay him maybe $10 for most little things, but $100 for cancer treatment. That includes all the drug costs, too. That still leaves you with lots of money to spend on groceries, even though they cost almost nothing now.

North Carolinians say "Thanks for thinking of us, but stay the F away!". We're still trying to weed out racism & thuggery from our own police forces, so we don't need to backfill with the dregs of NYC police.

The really good NYC police, who helped the city come together after 9-11, aren't leaving.

I guess the Dutch, English, Irish, Italian, Greeks & Jews from Eastern Europe weren't immigrants??? Or is it just that many of the more recent immigrants from the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East & Asia happen to be People of Color? That guy isn't anti-immigration, he's just racist.

Deaf ppl could also read her lips. All they really need to know is: if her lips are moving, she's lying.
