Which NYC pols do you recommend be prioritized for pressure to call for Schumer's removal as minority leader?

Safe, recently elected progressives (Williams, Osse) or those likely to lose their primary (Goldman)?

It seems we need the dam to break with some early statements.

A basic litmus test for New York's Democratic politicians is whether they will publicly call for Chuck Schumer to step down as minority leader.

I think there's a value in local Democratic clubs calling for him to step down as minority leader if he can't get his caucus to hold the line.

I know I'll be raising the topic with mine.

This is one of those moments when someone on Dan Goldman's staff needs to explain to him that he needs to spend some of that TV lawyer capital and name names: Gillibrand and Schumer are selling out their constituents.

I've had a good experience getting involved in my local democratic club. Committee members do come to meetings to ask for endorsement. The meetings present the opportunity to raise these issues so your neighbors hear them too.

One avenue is the state committee. People can ask their local committee members if they support his removal.

The problem is, when there was a vote of no confidence on hisl leadership in Nov. 2021, something like 80% of the committee members voted it down.

I like Harnik's because it includes George Washington watching the scene from the left.

He had a split second to avoid the Lutnick photo bomb.

Canvassing played a part in my decision to vote no.

In 2024 I spent every weekend in PA canvassing for Harris. I'd have probably done the same if the mayorals were the same year, which would mean I (and probably many) would not be helping GOTV locally.

This! I can have unlimited travel across Ile de France, an area from Poughkeepsie to Atlantic City, for about $1,250/year.

In Rome, unlimited travel across the city costs ~$290/year.

Low-cost passes are a game changer.

Democracy is very much not served by far fewer people voting.

Nor is democracy served by the current organizational structure of the BOE, or the role consultants and media buys play in our elections. But these are the parameters around which New Yorkers have organized their elections.
October 25, 2025 at 12:40 AM
I heard a very convincing argument about this at a local political meeting. Not just for ad buys, but for staff and talent.

In addition, there's the question of administrative capacity: the BOE having to staff up and down cyclically. Not entirely a good idea.

To me, the fact that he can't state loudly and clearly that Andrew Cuomo's prior behavior is disqualifying tells us everything we need to know about Dan Goldman's character.

I don't see how this isn't disqualifying for an officer of the court.
