Turns out you can communicate across containers via 63-bits of available space in a shared lock you acquire on /proc/self/ns/time that all processes have access to.

Today, in new ADHD meds: saw a little thingy hanging from the Uber driver's mirror with a phrase in a language I didn't know, got curious. Turned out to be a Sikh phrase, so I started reading about Sikh on Wikipedia. Fast forward 2.5h of nearly continuous wikipediaing, might become a former atheist.

What I wanted: to split the rest of the workday evenly between the 2 main projects I'm working on, then handle some personal stuff.
What I got: nerd sniped by a shiny new task from a lower priority project, worked on it 6h straight, forgot to eat and take meds
Not an ideal outcome for the day.
