That very specific ex-gamedev is wasting so much of his time in a hate crusade against "woke" and "DEI".

He was successful and is rich and he shouldn't bother and enjoy life. Why would he put do much effort? Is it a frustration for a decade of failing to be a game dev again while "wokes" succeed?

The tech and graphical advancements in Assassin's Creed Shadows are mighty impressive: Micropolygon geometry, fluid wind simulations, ray traced global illumination and so much more. How do they all work and compare to AC games of the past? Find out in my video below!

Today my partner and I cancelled our GDC plans.

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but between reduced air safety, increased border control detainments, and escalating tensions between the US and Canada, travelling to the US for a games conference (especially from Canada) doesn't seem worth it.

All it takes is one bad faith border security staff calling into question why I am travelling to the US from Canada and back on a UK passport, and I could be in a cold cell for a few weeks waiting for a chance to explain myself.

has anyone else decided to opt out of gdc this year specifically due to the rapid and intentional degradation of the US government? if so, I want to speak to you for a possible article. DMs are open, and my email is nathan@aftermath.site

BREAKING NEWS: CDC orders mass retraction and revision of submitted research across all science and medicine journals. Banned terms must be scrubbed.

Goes beyond MMWR +other CDC pubs. Applies to research already submitted to top medical journals.

Take a look.

Trump threatens Canada again, confirms tariffs are blackmail: "Canada, we have a tremendous deficit with Canada. We're not gonna have that anymore. As you probably know, I say you can always become a state. If you're a state, we won't have a deficit, we won't have to tariff you."

Trump is threatening to arrest local and state officials, especially in Blue states, if they don’t participate in his ethnic cleansing campaign through mass deportations.

Today it’ll be about “immigration” , tomorrow it’ll be about how they vote.

If you are in those areas and you aren't masking you have NO IDEA what you're breathing in - Altadena in particular was full of very, very old homes that predated current regulations. Asbestos, lead paint, etc - you don't want any of it in your lungs. Mask up.
Shockingly few people are talking about the toxic air and water in LA.

It’s eerily reminiscent of early days of the pandemic when we were assured we didn’t have to mask

Listen to air quality experts. The same folk educating about IAQ & COVID are providing life saving info now.

And wear a mask.

FYI you can opt out of being given those 60 'free' copilot uses and get cheaper 365 in return, but microsoft deliberately hides how to do it, which is pretty unconscionable. You threaten to cancel & then they offer a cheaper, AI-free option:

You don’t have to pay the Microsoft 365 price increase
Here’s how to keep the price of your subscription the same as it’s always been.

Thiel seems less powerful than Epstein ever was. A simple house while Jerry had a full blown island.
Quite the gathering tonight at Peter Thiel's new house in DC. Don Jr, Zuckerberg, dozens of others inside his recently purchased property here. Secret Service is checking everyone entering. NYT reporters not allowed inside.

It's 2024, games should not be launching without subtitles.

For a game to count as having subtitles, they need to actually be readable. Far too many are not.

Can we please have none of this in 2025. Collectively as an industry we need to be doing better, our players deserve better.

Measles requires 95% vaccination rates for herd immunity.

It has a 16.2% case fatality rate for unvaccinated children under 5 years and 24% for children under 9 months (who are unable to be vaccinated).

30% of the survivors experience severe complications like blindness, deafness, or encephalitis.
These are the vaccination rates of kindergartners by state. It takes 95% coverage of MMR vaccine to prevent measles outbreaks & most states are not achieving it. I fear that under the new administration rates will drop even further and we will start to see preventable illness, disability, and death

If this chart says to you "the climate/1.5C was screwed either way", then you've missed a fundamental truth about global warming:

–every fraction of a degree matters
–every tonne of CO2 counts
–every delay makes escalating climate impacts on people + planet harder to avoid
