In the civil service there is a cliff edge at £56k for pension contributions. They are not tapered (i.e. the rate applies to your whole income, not just the bit over the threshold)

Going from £56000 to £56001 costs a worker 2% of their pay, or £1120

Was in the West end last weekend and attempting to walk around was just horrific / impossible with the volumes of pedestrians squeezed onto tiny pavements while cars and pedicycles happily trundled around on the road. Can't come soon enough.

Great post. I think their plagiarism is lazier then you make out. Doubt they're sitting there with a thesaurus. Tell any LLM "Rewrite this: " and then paste text. And you'll get the almost the same, but a few words and sentences swapped or moved output that is their MO. It's just lazy AI.

The only way Labours strategy makes any sense is if they have been deliberately going soft on Reform in order to hasten the demise of the Tories / further split voters on the right across the two parties. Presumably thinking this leads to an easier GE win in 2029 than doing otherwise

The 5 star review system is broken, both for art, and also (especially) for businesses / products. Should be a 3 star system.
1 - Bad. You'd tell people to avoid it
2 - Average / as expected. Not going to rush to mention to anyone. But did the job
3 - Outstanding. You'd actively recommend to others

Only downside is shops basically have to pay a fee to make sales under the scheme so often will only agree to sell full price items under it. I.e. as a consumer, you often can't use it to take advantage of sales run by bike shops, only full price items. Still good though

This might be the reminder I need to get myself physical copies printed of 11000111, Baroness and 01101010, Dissect.
Just little ones to put in the corner of the office though, I don't want to give myself nightmares

Likewise changes in measured air pollution on the boundary roads were mixed and very much within the year to year noise. But there were very significant drops inside the LTN area.

Didn't stop the council scrapping the whole thing though... Turns out evidence doesn't matter if you make a fuss

As for boundary roads, not all roads saw increases. Those that did it was a relatively small %age wise when considering baseline volumes of traffic.
