Great to see our evidence map of husbandry and management actions in zoos and aquaria (identifying 1071 studies that quantitatively evaluate such actions) out in JZAR! Very pleased to help out with this great new open-access paper led by @thereremouse.bsky.social which provides a much-needed update to the terrestrial mammal inventory of Krka National Park, Croatia. Should be a very useful resource for park managers!

Great to see our paper on the threat of tropical storms to global island biodiversity out. Key highlights are the Caribbean being especially vulnerable to storm-driven extinctions, and the identification of 60 'high risk' species representing key conservation priorities shorturl.at/EAqOS

Roman Mosaic in the Bardo museum in Tunisia which showcases shifting extinction baselines. Orpheus plays his lyre to a bunch of animals that all occurred in the Roman empire (and all except the tiger in Tunisia) when it was made, yet are now all extinct (or only recently reintroduced):

Great to see this @plosone.org article out, excellently headed up by @dhaelewa.bsky.social and @thereremouse.bsky.social. This cross-site study demonstrates that standardized bat survey techniques dont work equally well in all ecosystems, and assuming that they do can severely impact results!

New paper out, excellently led by Ferran Sayol, showcasing the AVOTREX database. This database summarized information on all 610 bird species known to have gone extinct in the last 130,000 years (including geographical range data, traits, and phylogenetic positioning). tinyurl.com/muznycc9
