Trivia, Aviation, Lego. Go Blue and Gig ‘em. My wife and I are trying to visit every NPS site, so there will probably be pictures.

My Learned League 1DS on Edward Hopper is live today, on what would’ve been his 143rd birthday. Please give it a look if that’s your thing!

An odd historical coincidence: Medgar Evers and Patrice Lumumba were born on the same day, 100 years ago today. Although they were born on opposite sides of the world and took extremely different paths, they would both be assassinated in the name of white supremacy before making it to the age of 40.

Oh, hey, that’s my subject line!

(In which several people relate what it’s like to be demolished by future pros and I…get absolutely demolished by a backup JV WR half my size.)
Thing Two is running late today because y'all sent us way too much material for That Time I Got My Ass Kicked story hour, but here's a preview of my favorite one:

Story time. A few months before my mother passed, she called me in an embarrassed panic. The electricity to her apartment was disconnected. At this point she was no longer driving and starting to have trouble keeping track of everything, so we got the power turned back on dug into the problem.
Trump’s commerce secretary Howard Lutnick says if Social Security skipped a check, his mother-in-law wouldn’t complain—and if you would, it indicates you are probably a fraudster. Insane.

Whatever happened to that Ribbentrop guy?

The Nazi demonstration yesterday outside of Cincinnati hit extremely close to home for me, so here are a couple of quick thoughts to help provide some context and history. 1/6
The Destruction of a Black Suburb
Lincoln Heights, Ohio, once had the potential to become a thriving community, but today it’s in crisis. This is no accident.

I don’t know how someone could pick just one, but I’ll nominate the XF-84H Thunderscreech. Truly one of the all-time great “what if we” airplanes. The XB-70 is a close second.

For the Learned League crowd, my 1DS Sacre Bleu is live today! I chose a less than optimal title, but it’s about the color blue in art (notable works, artists, and the history of making all things blue). I hope you’ll check it out! (Also: Go Blue!)

Here in Cincinnati, Busquets just got the rare double yellow for dissent. Miami in shambles in a 5-1 game.

Happy 4th of July! Celebrating here with the most American of dishes, a smoked brisket (and some boneless ribs, but the brisket is the main attraction).

Does the Michigan Alumni Association know their audience or what?

In honor of three years of wins in The Game. Many thanks to Ryan Day’s vaunted offense for helping keep the dollars and cents separation nice and tidy. Tomorrow I’ll submit for a matching gift. #charitibundibowl #GoBlue

We went to the Cyclones game last night and saw Luke Morgan and Jay Keranen skate for the K-Wings. Tonight Evan Louro gets a very rare start in goal for FCC. It’s a very Go Blue kind of a weekend in Cincinnati!

This weekend’s project, squeezed in between writing for my trivia project and watching sports: tearing out invasive honeysuckle to make room for a paw paw grove. Now we water and wait many years to see if we get fruit.

We went to the Cape Ann Museum to see their show about the Hoppers featuring an old friend from the Cincinnati Art Museum: Sun on Prospect Street. It turns out Prospect St. is only a couple of blocks away. Then and now, hasn’t changed too much!
