Poet, author, Patagonian alpaca farmer. A Wisconsin boy living in Chile between Valparaiso & Futaleufú. Please don’t ask about book #3. It’s coming. All llamas, alpacas & Icelandic horses are Green Bay Packers fans. No DMs. No porn. No crypto.
Calm before the storm. The “Pasarela Santa Clara” is located between sections III & IV on Chile’s mighty Futaleufú. Section III is called “Terminator” and Section IV is called “Bridge to Bridge.” Together they combine to bring adrenaline junkies some of the most famed whitewater on earth.

Good day! Here are Freyja & Lukka, the first two Icelandic foals born in South America, cuddling with some young gauchas at our farm in Futaleufú, Chilean Patagonia.

I call this photo “What you talking ‘bout Willis?” Apparently Daniel & Bety’s geese, lower left corner in this photo, are Philadelphia Eagles fans. Llamas, alpacas & Icelandics are Green Bay Packers fans. Hopefully there will be peace in the valley on Tuesday.

The view from my bedroom window at 6:18 a.m. this morning. This is why I refuse to out blinds on this window. I enjoy being woken up by the sunrise.

Good morning. It was a good election day yesterday in the USA. That makes today a nice moment to take in the view from the bridge over Estero José, “Joe’s Creek,” just above the delta of this mountain stream at Yelcho Lake, Chilean Patagonia.

In 1999 my wife & I were newlyweds making our first visit from Valparaíso to Chile’s Carretera Austral. The route was unpaved. Our tiny Opel Corsa was overwhelmed. We made it only as far as Yelcho Lake, but the energy & presence of Patagonia left a deep mark. 26 years later we call this place home.

Reason #79 that I love living in Patagonia? The NFL season is in spring here, so if my Packers lay an egg, as they did yesterday, I can always cheer myself up by going for a walk amongst the lupines.

Good morning! We are back home in Chile after almost a month in the US. A highlight? Bringing my 92-year old mother back to see her hometown of La Crosse, WI for the first time in 74 years. Lowlight? The black helicopters over Chicago. Yes, autumn was gorgeous in WI & MN, but it is good to be home.

We are the sum of choices in life. This has always been a favorite spot when visiting Mom. The last covered bridge in WI, located between Cedarburg & Grafton. Also: the salmon are spawning on the Milwaukee River. You can see them at Riverside Park in Theinseville.

Tired of the black helicopters flying over Chicago? We have found peace in the non militarized pumpkin fields of Wisconsin. For now.

My daughter yesterday living her best life in the magnificent city of Chicago only to be told that she was visiting a communist hellhole overrun by Venezuelan gangs & that this beautiful place needed to be militarized ny the Texas National Guard. “With fear for our democracy, we dissent.”

We are in route for a 3-week stay in MKE, Chicago & MSP. I travel back to the US often, but, now, these visits feel different: militarized streets, media crackdowns, sham prosecutions. Somberly, I said goodbye to each horse, alpaca, llama, dog & cat individually. Daddy will be home soon. I promise.

Good morning! Eldfara is interested in starting a podcast series called, “Fire Travelers in Patagonia.” I’m thinking about it 🤔.

Let’s see how many of my MKE peeps recognize this local legend, who happens to be my best friend, seen here with me in Futa last year. It’s his birthday today 😀🤗

Generally, we have 26 monthly flights from Buenos Aires to Esquel, Argentina. For 1 month in spring, we have 68 flights. Why? The rising demand to see the tulips in Trevelin. This lovely story is about a man, his family & their dream to plant flowers. Follow your dream & the world will come to you.

The first spring wildflowers in Patagonia are always the “retamos”’ seen here along the Espolon River in Futaleufú. In a few weeks they will be joined by the blood orange embrothium &, then, the ubiquitous purple lupines. These blooms intersect in Nov. & Dec. which is a nice time to visit Patagonia!

As founding members of the Icelandic community in Chile, Sprengjia & Hrimdaeg wish all Chileans a happy “Fiestas Patrias.” Please celebrate safely and in moderation 🤗😀

Here is your favorite Green Bay Packers loving Patagonian alpaca farmer musing & fantasizing about the possibilities after watching the rest of the NFL play on Sunday….

When traveling in Patagonia we recommend leaving a few minutes early to catch your flight at the nearest airport as unexpected traffic delays may occur.

Since Orri has only been a member of our family since March this is officially his first ever Packers Victory Monday!

Greetings to all from Futaleufú, Chilean Patagonia 😀

The first flamboyance of spring flamingos has arrived in our sister town of Trevelin, Argentina. One of the best things about Patagonia life is the binational culture. Yes, technically, there IS a border—but we share cultural bonds & traditions & brotherhood as well as birds & glaciers & rivers.

We are all hurdling through space and time at breathtaking speed. Be the best person you can be every day. Don’t compete with or compare yourself with others. If you suffer anxious thoughts listen to the birds or the wind or find yourself a river or a rocky perch overlooking the sea.

Our friends in Tulipanes Patagonia, Trevelin, Argentina—a short drive from our farm in Futaleufú—have announced the dates for this spring’s viewing season: Oct 5-Nov 5. This has become a major tourist attraction & can be combined with visits to Futa, Los Alerces National Park, Esquel & Bariloche.
