But I worked on it with my wife which was great. It taught *our* kid which is priceless. But hearing from other families, particularly other families of people I care about...holy shit, you guys. Game dev is brutal and money is going to be iffy, but it can also do some good. Something to think about

Financially the game was a disaster. Even with open-source tools and frameworks it was a time and money pit. It never made enough money on iOS to cross their payment threshold. I only went positive on Google Play because of the class action payout everyone got who developed during that window.

It’s natural and you have the entire publishing and content creation markets working against you to make sure you don’t feel like you can do it without them. Learn by doing when you can. Get to know the documentation, example code, etc. you can always look up what you don’t recognize. You’ve got it.

You're going the wrong direction, my good man. Start at the thing you want to make and venture out as far as you need to into programming. Don't start with the entire field of programming and try to work you way to the thing you want to make. Do a couple of tutorials and apply that to the project.
