What game made you fall in love with video games?

Spyro 1! It was the first game I ever completed 100%. Since I got a PS1 relatively late in its life cycle (2000), the strategy guide for this game was impossible to find in the very remote town I lived in att, so I used cheat planet tips instead!

You need to play N64 games with the Trident, they are designed around the laser based octagonal stick box and low range! If you don't have access to the trident, please for the LOVE OF GOD, go into your n64 emulator, and LOCK THE RANGE TO REAL N64 settings!

Please check out Geist if you haven't already! It's one of the most unique games in nintendo's library! It was erroneously marketed as a "halo clone", when it's actually a puzzle game! It's built entirely around possession mechanics, Nintendo would later reuse that for Mario Odyssey!

I've been replaying sonic 1 a lot the past few days and I am really appreciating the level design and story this time around! It's a great satire of Industrialisation, and Eggman being a threat is refreshing, compared to the newer games. Oshima's character designs have amazing proportions too!

Samus and Aya (still) gave me major gender envy, cause I am very tall (6'5) like Samus is, and I dress plainly like Aya does. Irl I'm laconic and stoic like lain 90% of the time, but if I am with a sexy guy I go Lummo mode.

Shigeyasu Yamauchi, well known for directing most of the classic Saint Seiya films, the first two Dragon ball Broly films (and numerous other Classic DB movies), even contributed to this, directing Hurricane Touchdown and Secret of the Frog Stone!

In a way, Digimon and Doremi are almost sister series. The first 4 Digimon shows and all 4 Doremi seasons aired concurrently from 1999-2003, their movies were often double billed with each other, and they even share 85% of the same voice actors. Toei cross promoted them a lot in the 2000s!

La Jetée was remade into 12 Monkeys by Terry Gilliam, it's one of the better American remakes of a European film I've seen. Obviously though, watch it after La Jetée.

I watched Red Spectacles for the first time yesterday and the narrative is structurally so similar to La Jetée that I could see the ending coming a mile away lmao. This isn't a diss at the latter tho!!! These are both great movies! La Jetée in particular is one of my favourite short films!

The greatest Miiverse community was Funky Barn's. Doctorate level instructions on how to be funky, cynical wandering vagabonds lamenting that they weren't funky enough for this game, speculation that the cows unionised, it was magnificent.

Golden age marvel comics aren't very well preserved sadly, a lot of the scans I've found are so blown out I turn into the attached image. DC values their golden age way more, so knocking on wood that those scans are better.

I'm overjoyed at growing my hair out again after having been bald for 8 years, but oh god oh fuck I forgot about hat hair.

I forgot how wordy Golden Age super hero comics are 🥴. Good thing I've been liking the first 22 issues.

This film was shot at the house owned by Tim Hildebrant, the guy who drew the poster for The Secret of Nimh! He was an executive producer on The Deadly Spawn. The creature effects in this film are fantastic, It's one of the better low budget "atomic age tribute" films that the 80's was filled with.

I was originally going to jump right into MHA next, but during my reread of Naruto, I loved talking about Kishimoto's influences. Since Horikoshi was heavily influenced by Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, I'll need to read some cape books. Starting with:

Naruto reread+Supplemental (Movies, OVAs, Spinoff mangas) is finished. Really enjoyed re-experiencing it! Having way more anime/manga under my belt made me great appreciate the strengths Kishimoto has. He's a fantastic artist and character designer, and has such great grasp of shonen tropes.
