No, a rapist raped a vulnerable teen by exploiting her need for money, setting of a chain of events. Every day is yet another reminder that cancelling my subscription was the right move.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

as Sam Adler Bell said, it seems pretty clear they're working on defenses in case it turns out a certain president raped* a 15 year old.

*it would be rape, because statutory rape is still rape.
Imagine nodding along to this bsky.app/profile/acco...
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

A subscription to my local paper and perusing AP News gets me the vast majority of what I need. Though, the local paper's national/world news section is just AP reposts and advertorials, which is a bummer.
the New York Times is utterly finished as an organization in my opinion. we have moved beyond the need for the New York Times

A College Republican, apparently.

I admit I was an actual child when thate last existed, but wasn't their failure to be both affordable and inability to cover much of anyone a perennial news story pre-ACA?
Tom Emmer: "You're gonna have to create high risk pools again. Just go back where Minnesota was before the ACA."

Woke "Guys who won WWII" is such a bizarre claim.
Trump: "We have officially renamed the Dept of Defense back to the original name, Dept of War. And remember we won World War 1, we won World War 2, we won everything in between. We won everything that came before. And then we brilliantly decided to change the name. We became politically correct"

No, @shaheen.senate.gov , we can talk and chew gum at the same time and have plenty of fire to train your way. If you don't have the fight in you, that's ok, but resign so we can fill the seat with someone actually useful who does.
Shaheen: "All those people who oppose this agreement -- staying in a shutdown mode was not getting us anywhere. They need to train their fire on the people who are responsible. That's Trump, Johnson, & the Republicans who have blocked every attempt to get healthcare. We need to be working together."

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!
