At a time when environmental policy, regulations, research, and budgets face unprecedented and systemic attacks, new climate coalitions are emerging, from local neighborhoods to the global stage. These coalitions, powered by the vision and voices of communities, are advancing environmental and climate justice by bringing together policymakers, philanthropy, grassroots organizations, and academia to chart a path toward a just, thriving economy and healthy futures for all. This Climate Week 2025 keynote brought together multi-sectoral leaders who are building and sustaining these transformative alliances. Julia Fay Bernal (Sandia Pueblo and Yuchi), Executive Director, Pueblo Action Alliance in New Mexico Kaniela Ing, former Hawaiʻi House of Representatives and Tishman Center Fellow Mayor Justin M. Bibb of Cleveland, Ohio U.S. Representative Kathy Castor (FL-14), who leads the Thriving Economy Project with SEEC Institute, and the former Chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis Phyllis Cuttino, the President and CEO of the Climate Reality Project Co-moderated by Dr. Ana Isabel Baptista, Director of the Tishman Environment & Design Center and Stephanie Gidigbi Jenkins, Co-Director, Communities First Fund. This event had a powerful opening by Janétza Miranda, Singer/ Songwriter/ Musician/ Humanitarian. This event is presented by Tishman Environment and Design Center in collaboration with the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) founded in 1976 and producer of Mother Jones and the public radio show and podcast Reveal, and the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition Institute (SEEC Institute), a nonprofit established in 2023, to increase understanding, build support, and drive action on critical climate and environmental issues.
