The fringe is now the mainstream, and we can watch in real time, as the rhetoric moves from social media bleats into Trump’s inner circle, then into the Oval Office itself, and finally into official policies.

An analysis by #Axios found that 13 of the top 20 cities with the highest #homicide rates were located in states with #Republican governors. At the state level, eight of the top 10 states with the highest murder rates are #redstates.

When federal &local policies align, good results emerge over time. As seen through my visit to the Cologne Germany, It appears some nations have made progress to a better environment since the Paris Climate Agreement. Others are in a race to the bottom. #environment

Good advice that I think all teachers of writing can use to simplify a writing process for students

From #DavidBrooks’ article, “Why Do SoMany People Think Trump Is Good” in @theatlantic.com :

Recovering from the moral scourge of Trumpism means restoring the vocabulary that people can use to talk coherently about their moral lives, and distinguish a person with character from a person without it.

Reported last Sunday by @virtualnomad.bsky.social of @bloomberg.com. Perhaps the best source of #journalism in a time where so many sources like @foxnews.com.web.brid.gy embellish, coverup, or flat out lie about what’s happening in the world impacting us all.

From @theatlantic.com written by Jonathan Chait:

“In every case where Trump could choose between building human capital and punishing his enemies, he selected the latter.”

That attitude is creating a brain drain that is ruining the economic engine that supports medical and scientific research.

From the Chicago Tribune:

“The United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest ally and partner. … At the same time, they’re talking about working positively with Russia (and) appeasing Vladimir Putin, a lying murderous dictator. … Make that make sense.”

#Trump… consistently despicable! Ignoring #redstates who supported him. He golfs and to the people says, ‘Let them eat cake’
36 people are reported dead in the last 24 hours across seven states due to extreme storms.

States of emergency have been declared in Arkansas, Georgia and Oklahoma, where more than 100 wildfires have been raging.

“The cost of tariffs isn’t just the cost of the tariff.”
One of my companies informed me they cancelled a $2m conference in Florida. Why ?

They didn’t feel they could pass on the incremental cost of tariffs. So they are cutting expenses.

That’s a city that lost a ton of tourism revenue.
