Was talking with a friend in another institute. Apparently their director has informally told the international postdocs (especially Indian and Chinese) that they shouldn't go back to their home country until it's an emergency. Even for those on valid visas. Oh what a fun time I chose to be here

I was out grocery shopping at Wegmans today and suddenly "Carry on" started playing and I got a full war flashback in the middle of leafy veggies section.

Do ppl not eat Christmas cake in US? I tried the local bakery today and they had all type of cookies and donuts and stuff except the traditional plum cake.
I haven't seen it sold much in any of the shops I've visited either.

It's been one month in the States. I miss home so much. Slowly getting used to doing things alone. Went for a walk in the snow in the morning and then went to watch a movie by myself.
