Not surprised that it's community colleges that are fighting back. Community colleges serve the greatest number of people facing systemic barriers. A large percentage of community college students are the first in their family to attend college.

To instrumentalize what my sister is saying below: every time someone says DEI say “you mean civil rights?” Every time someone says they are against woke reply “oh so you’re a segregationist!” Words have meaning! Don’t allow that nonsense to stand.
Only saying once on bsky b/c I know it is not entirely useful, but it is totally exhausting that in 2016 some of us said “they’re Nazis,” some of us screamed “they’re segregationists,” and a whole lot of very serious people now posting about them being Nazis and segregationists gaslight us for years

I understand the concern and alarm at the news that a US citizen was detained in an ICE raid, but let's keep some perspective
It shouldn't take that happening for you to care about these raids or even have them on your radar.

Before reconstruction even started the wealthy land/slave owners who financed the Confederacy should have been punished for their treason. At minimum all assets stripped and distributed between their slaves and reconstruction efforts, though many should have ended up in the gallows.
