So, so happy you’ve written more of this and it just happened to be there when I opened the app tonight. Thank you, Nicole. 💚

Jennifer should put Mercy in touch with her lawyer to bring him up on civil assault charges.

OMG, Kenz!! I love it!
November 12, 2025 at 1:44 AM
Ok, sorry, one more thing: the CGI animals were embarrassing. I mean, come on.
November 11, 2025 at 5:37 AM
It was beautiful though, and the acting and direction were quite good. But the writing, oh that’s where the film was let down.

We still haven’t gotten a good movie adaptation of the book, which I hoped this would be.

I can’t say I’m not disappointed. But it was worth seeing.
November 11, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Ok, well, I’m glad I watched it. There pieces of a good movie in a lot of it, but—get ready—the whole was not greater than the sum of its parts.

Del Toro made so many weird choices, and most of them were not to the film’s benefit.
November 11, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Yeah, but at least that was closer to the book.
November 11, 2025 at 5:16 AM
Ha, Yes!
November 11, 2025 at 5:16 AM
I mean, it doesn’t contradict anything in the book, where the monster does keep getting wounded and coming back. I’m ok with that part.
November 11, 2025 at 5:15 AM
It had gotten better! The Monster’s story was so much better than Victor’s, but wow. There were certainly…choices made.
November 11, 2025 at 5:11 AM
I just laughed out loud at Del Toro’s inability to let any metaphor, any idea that was simply implied in the novel, not be spoken aloud.

“Victor, you are the monster.”

Ok, yes, he’s knocking the cottagers part out of the park. That’s good.
November 11, 2025 at 4:46 AM
We have reached my favorite part of the book. I’m hoping it’ll work for me.
November 11, 2025 at 4:39 AM
I just hit a point where I said, “Oh, fuck this,” aloud.

Wow, I…might not like this movie. I hope I feel differently by the end.
November 11, 2025 at 4:23 AM
It’s very pretty. But, thus far, the best parts are the ones that hew closest to the book.
November 11, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Honestly the best adaptation I’ve encountered was the one in the OTR show The Witch’s Tale from about 1938.
November 11, 2025 at 4:07 AM
Ha! I’m just…not that invested in Victor’s relationship with Elizabeth and his brother. Or his financier.
November 11, 2025 at 4:03 AM
Yup. Sigh.
November 10, 2025 at 4:02 AM
Apparently not? From what little I’ve seen, it looks like it’s only the House’s CR that specifically fucks over trans people, not the Senate’s.

That being said, it ain’t gonna help.
