“ended up”? “setting off”? The Times explores new lows with this perversely upside down synopsis of a story of powerful men sexually abusing a child and getting away with their crimes.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

She is also an alcoholic. Her oldest son records himself and his friends beating up the homeless in NYC. Mother of the Year material.
Just last month Clare Malone wrote a fairly sympathetic profile of Jessica Reed Kraus who has been smearing Epstein’s victims while cozying up to Ghislaine Maxwell.

Nah, it’s The Chain.
No sorry, it’s Second Hand News
"The Chain" is the best song on Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' (1977). Agree or disagree?

We are getting an invasion of Venezuela to distract from the Epstein files and the Trump being a pedophile.
okay so reporting by CNN supports the operation being connected to Venezuela, but still no operational decision made yet

I understand why it's preferable to believe that the country is being run by little Gordon Gekkos rather than little Eichmanns, because the little Gekkos can be bought off for the right price, but sorry, I need you to look these people in the eye and realize that they are little Eichmanns

I think the main reason TCW hates the Left is because we think Bari Weiss is a fraud and we hate her. I think his hatred of the Left is centered around his friendship with Bari Weiss.
This paragraph especially!

If I understand him right, he's saying "moral clarity it good" and the right has been utterly immoral so it might sound weird to criticize moral clarity. HOWEVER, because the left is bad [unspecified reasons], "moral clarity is an obstacle to insight." ???

"I'm a rando who prefers to believe that everything is a conspiracy and am happy to tell women that I know better than she does how their literal job works" That a news org makes an editorial decision you wouldn't (or I wouldn't) doesn't mean someone is killing a story on behalf of a powerful person
"I write for the New York Times, and I can assure you that we've never buried stories on behalf of powerful people, many of those powerful people being part of NYT management. We only publish what's fit to print, like Zohran's application to Columbia that was leaked by a white nationalist"

NYT has great writers like Spiers and Bouie, but when I see an email from an NYT reporter saying he knew about Trump and Epstein in 2015, I’m not extending the benefit of the doubt to the most influential paper in America. If NYT would occasionally admit its fuckups, I’d have reason to trust it.
I don't understand why people have to concoct wild conspiracy theories in order to critique the NYT. I say this as someone who writes for them: there is plenty to critique without making up wild scenarios and insisting they're true!

Under no circumstances do you have to hand it to Rod Dreher.
For my money, Rod Dreher — the man who is, somewhat ironically, sounding the alarm about Groypers in @hunterw.bsky.social's piece here — is one of the most bizarre figures in right-wing politics.

Thinking today how homelessness runs through this story, through Epstein's (Virginia Guiffre had been homeless before meeting him), and even through Gaiman's (his nanny was sleeping on the beach when Palmer recruited her, and he used threats of homelessness against another victim).
