Similar on Facebook. I basically never post anything but it's figured out my age, gender and where I live so I get lots of "here's a pic from the old days of Ireland/UK" that descend into horrible racist garbage after a couple of comments.

Agreed, but the guy in the red shirt with bare feet and an espresso seems a bit stock-photo-y.

I think that's exactly it. Net Zero is a handy proxy for "big government overreach" that's been successfully disconnected from climate science.

Good general advice, but if the guy in question likes science fiction and hasn't read Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky then it's worth a punt as it's a superb book.

That's a good one. I've never quite figured out why more people don't use them here in Galway. I put it mostly down to the wind, but I must admit I hadn't thought of homophobia as reason....
