These look like lesser stag beetle larvae in very rotten apple wood.

Can anyone confirm?

There is a starling murmuration between 5:30pm and 6:30pm as they decide to roost in the Leylandii boundary of the Oxford Business park, behind Neilsen House/Oxford Biodynamics. I guess it will hold up whilst the weather is cold at night.
