Colbert’s parody ‘I Am America’ book had a funny bit talking g about how the elderly are an invaluable asset in size 128 font (the joke being they needed large print) while trashing them in size 10 and the thing is that actual GOP messaging strategy is not far off that
yes. i don't think enough people understand how much trump dominated non-english-language media in 2024, often with blatant lies about what trump's plan and agenda were that contradicted both his actual policies and his english-language campaign/propaganda's stated policies.
Trump-Mamdani voters are not hard to understand. They're Asian or Hispanic, infrequent voters who dont follow politics, voted for Trump over cost of living & crime issues solely, and voted Mamdani cause he canvassed them and talked CoL issues.

Lee Jae-Myung wins South Korean election, with only a slight increase in his vote share compared to his '22 loss. In the absence of a third party, the PPP might have held on here, despite Yoon's impeachment.

How the American Public Views Nuclear North Korea
While experts hold that North Korea’s stockpile is about deterrence, the public’s perception of an offensive posture could shape policy debates towards confrontational strategies.

There is a real, genuine 1st Amendment crisis in the United States right now.

The government is openly retaliating against anyone with a viewpoint it doesn't like: Pro-Palestinian protesters, law schools teaching Black History, pro-immigration public service loan forgiveness seekers.

I presume that this is going to go into the exhibits filed in New York’s case soon.

I do think we are soon going to reach a point where judges are going to have to start imposing sanctions.

Individuals bear the costs of speaking out but don't capture the collective benefits for democracy. A classic externality - and one that could doom our system of government.
An excellent question. Where are the Fortune 500 & Wall Street CEOs? Where are the university presidents? Where are the civil society leaders? Not just speaking out specifically in defense of their institutions & democracy, but also about 🇺🇸's global interests? The silence is deafening & shameful.
we are gutting out competitive advantages and the stakeholders of our democracy don't care? what the fuck is wrong with america's elites?
