Went to look up what Newton did with alchemy, found this.
A screenshot of Wikipedia, section called Alchemical research. In it a picture of Newton in a room trying to put out a fire, the caption reads: An 1874 engraving showing a probably apocryphal account of Newton's lab fire. In the story, Newton's dog started the fire, burning 20 years of research. Newton is thought to have said: "O Diamond, Diamond, thou little knowest the mischief thou hast done."

Turns out somewhere in 1878 the government bureaucrats confused бабр (old word for tiger) and бобр (beaver), turning Irkutsk’a coat of arms from being “a tiger with a sable in its mouth” to “a beaver with a sable in its mouth”
