I had a great time catching up with @rjbayley.bsky.social at Church restaurant in Sheffield over lunch. Excellent vegan food served in a fun, relaxed venue, although the panna cotta presented in the style of a baby's head was mildly disturbing 😄

In a disturbing development, I've found the text of the paperback version of A Time of Dread by @johngwynneauthor.bsky.social is too small for my aging eyes 😞 especially late at night. Fortunately, I have the larger font of the hardback to fall back on! Getting old 😂

Heidelberg was another highlight on our final day. I definitely left Germany wanting to return and explore some more! 3/3

The whole region is stunning, and the scale of landscape is huge. Lovely historic towns like Villingen-Schwennigen sit amongst rolling valleys nestled in the forest. One of my favourite pictures is the sunset over the lake at the memorably named Titisee 2/3

My trip to Germany last weekend proved to be one of the best things I did in 2025, so I wanted to share some more of the highlights. We chose the perfect weekend for the trip, which showed off the amazing autumnal colours of the Black Forest near Triberg 1/3

I'm leaving Germany this evening after a brilliant trip. It was great to catch up with my fellow writers and friends @kerosero.bsky.social & @llmacrae.bsky.social!

There was a lot of travelling yesterday but it was worth it to reach a destination like this.

After a busy week I'm having a change of scene to break things up so I'm not stuck in the house all day. I'm looking at artwork, map commissions and some more reviews for @spotlightindie.bsky.social today.

Pleasant autumn stroll around Chatsworth first thing this morning.

I've just started listening to The Scroungers by Thomas J Devens, narrated by the talented @rjbayley.bsky.social. I'm already drawn in and immersed in this gritty fantasy world.

I review the second season of The Magnus Archives, distributed by @rustyquill.com, for Page Chewing. This podcast is a must for horror fans and really finds its feet in this series.

There's nothing wrong with my home working setup but sometimes a change of scene is helpful. This morning I'm working on reviews and I have a new blog post to finish.

Apparently Tina - the Tina Turner Musical was the entertainment I didn't know I needed last night. A tremendous show performed by an amazingly talented cast at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield 👏👏👏

My newsletter subscribers have been exclusively reading my latest fantasy novel, ‘The Wolf Throne’, in instalments with each issue. In September Ingioy is offered help in 'A Test of the Spirit' from an unexpected source – but is this an opportunity or a trap?

I've found myself binging the final quarter of The Magnus Archives Season Two by @rustyquill.com this weekend. I didn't think they'd be able to top Season One but they proved me wrong on that score! Review to follow.

I've not had much time for reading lately, so I'm enjoying picking up Spirits of Vengeance by @robjhayes.bsky.social once again this morning.

My latest Page Chewing review features the sci-fi audio drama Burnout written by Lewis Carter and produced by @storiesalt.bsky.social. It’s a highly entertaining show with a great setting and memorable characters - go check this one out!

Some interesting sights in Sheffield today. A new mural spotted on London Road and, amid all the showers, a broken rainbow emerged over the town centre.

My latest Page Chewing review features Promise by Bharat Krishnan. A really good book to round off a unique, thought-provoking series. There are some gems out there in the indie publishing world and this series is one of them!
