The @nytimes.com's failure to situate #NoKings atop the homepage is a betrayal of their supposed values and self-interest, so it's a day that ends in "y". But they admit, we don't care about crowd size, we care about content. If there's no conflict it's a human interest story to them, not politics!

The sheer amount of lie per paragraph in the Post’s story about Hasan Piker & Mamdani is truly astounding. Not a single sentence here isn’t a vile lie. The only one that comes close is the last one, except they hyphenated a reference to a complete hallucination that the right-wing media made up.

I think a lot of people who hate fascism and tyranny would join an overtly welcoming paramilitia. Whereas smaller affinity-group militancy probably appeals to a much more limited set & is less visible as a form of public pressure

It’s interesting — last year Stelter linked to this Ben Smith Semaphore post asking if this misperception / misbelief (“true and grounded”) was a product of crime spiking in proximity to power centers. Seems that wasn’t the explanation

Back to Synapse: This was either the last or 2nd-to-last year Synapse was published, before the UUA yanked funding & support for YRUU & all of its cultural products. Today UUism entirely lacks a cohesive youth movement and some of the leaders we fought have expressed regrets. Massive L for the libs.

For starters: tons of paperwork from my 1 year stint on the Unitarian Universalist Association Board of Trustees, from when I was 20 years old. Hoo boy. What a time that was. By its conclusion, I had been deeply disillusioned about UUism and rich liberals more broadly. An important experience.
