It logically follows that a student who can't follow instructions & compose remotely academic writing is also unable to accept adult feedback & thinks it's appropriate to go to the press over a bad grade on a 650-word paper.

Also, reaction papers are garbage, they only encourage subjective blather

Extraordinary WSJ reporting today that unveils the extent to which Trump, Witkoff, Kushner and US business executives are salivating over business deals with Russia while Putin’s forces kidnap Ukranian children and bomb civilians in their apartments.

They still, on the whole, did worse things (so far). But they weren't lawless in the sense of insisting no law, Constitution included, could bind them at all, for all intents and purposes absolute dictators. They made legal arguments that were at least more substantive than 'lol who cares nerd.'

James Buchanan blew up the Union in defense of slavery and then let his own Secretary of War assist in the lame duck preparations for treason, and Andrew Johnson was a drunken white supremacist who effectively revolted against Congress, and still neither of them were ever so nakedly lawless.
This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in the history of the United States and there’s no close second.

DOGE was always a very thinly disguised con to dress up data theft and extraction class destruction of federal corporate oversight as innovative, and it's important to remember that part of the reason it worked so well is that the press helped legitimize it

Universities are assembling larger and larger teams to deal with academic integrity issues--mostly focused on AI--while simultaneously holding AI "writing" contests, AI-themed events, "hey, come play with these fun tools!" The messages are so mixed, it's criminal. Because AI is bloated with money.

Reminder that any encrypted chat is only as safe as the people in it.

This article deeply implies that the FBI had an informant inside the group, potentially even the creator of the group itself.

I will say it again:

No encryption is safe against adding the Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantic.
The FBI accessed and spied on a Signal group chat that was organizing immigrant “court watch” efforts in NYC.

I feel like this should be bigger news.

You aren’t supposed to be able to spy on Signal chats.

Were they invited? How did they get access? Was there a warrant?

I wrote a piece recently about how Trump, Putin, Musk and the rest are actually fellow citizens of a borderless, lawless society designed to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. Politics and patriotism are just a cover.

The Singularitarian fantasists who want us to elevate machines to consciousness are not interested in the happiness of all beings.

They want to degrade the biological body to a mere vessel, one they can discard. It's bunk theology for men who believe they're too smart and special to die.

In November of 2016, I wrote about Trump's "radical evil," as Hannah Arendt saw it, "which involves making human beings as human beings superfluous.”

In his first term, he welcomed a pandemic because he was more interested in wooing Xi. Today, it's just non-stop kidnapping and murder.
