The sign board almost certainly dates from the 1960s. Sterling cigarettes were heavily promoted by Benson and Hedges at the time, as this 1966 magazine ad shows.
This was a time when manufacturers created brand loyalty through tokens inside the boxes. These could be traded for gifts.
