The fact that he called out antisemitism (and left foreign policy alone) *after* winning the election is also indicative (I hope).

I mean, I heard it from an NYT columnist 🧐

Some may be surprised to learn that he explicitly mentioned fighting antisemitism but not a word about Palestine or Israel. Almost like that's not, in fact, his singular obsession...

"We emailed Infidels MC for comment. In response, Mr Mulford instructed fellow leaders of the biker gang not to reply but included the BBC when he clicked "reply all" - inadvertently disclosing email addresses and names of fellow Infidels MC members, some of whom were working in Gaza"

If you have any evidence linking the orgs pushing age verification to the anti-trans stuff, I'd be super interested to see it.
July 29, 2025 at 3:30 PM
I've been reading a lot from proponents, and they don't seem to be coming from the same place. The anti trans stuff in the UK sucks, but I don't think it's being pushed by the same people. The dynamics elsewhere aren't the same as in the US, where the power of rw evangelicals is pretty unique.
July 29, 2025 at 2:27 PM
That's broadly true in the US re hard age verification identifiers for porn, but I don't think that's the case in the UK. Impact may be comparable though, perhaps in part b/c the US-based platforms have internalized the interests of the American proponents.

Your underlying point may be right, but it's not accurate to say that the NIH says this. It's just one item in their vast library of medical literature from a range of sources. (When critiquing bad journalism, better to report with precision?)
July 17, 2025 at 8:35 PM
*take down/censor. (The NIH didn't write it, they just make lots of research available in their library. Original skeet here is bad.)

In fact, so very justified that its implementation can be indefinitely delayed, b/c vibes

Weird that they don't mention Hungary's control of the media in this context...
