Pictures of things that caught my eye. All images are mine unless it's a repost or stated otherwise.

No money requests. No hitting on me. No shady offers to buy other people's images from me (!!). No flirty messages from young ladies, lol. Thank you.

The best camera is the one that gets the shot.
7x7 Bomm verses pocket sized Piccolette.

Finally happy with my blacks being fog free on my plates. Shot on 4x5

Speaking of #cyanotype and #music, here's a transcription of some McCoy Tyner phrases that helped me learn more while listening to live Coltrane recordings on the roof on Grant Street in Fresno some nights.

A small black insect, which I assume is some sort of bee that I don't recognise, makes its approach to a comparatively massive flower. The flower in question I think might be Hypericum, aka St. John's Wort. Yes, I am a veritable fount of information.

A small black insect, which I assume is some sort of bee that I don't recognise, makes its approach to a comparatively massive flower. The flower in question I think might be Hypericum, aka St. John's Wort. Welcome to On A Variety of Topics, where I present my rough guesses of what exists in the world around us 😁 Regardless of my knowledge, or lack thereof, I'm still delighted by these colourful subjects, especially when we're firmly entrenched in northern hemisphere November. Posted especially for Mike’s mom. This photo was taken on May 6, 2025, of some Woolly Sunflowers basking in the sunlight on my hillside in Northern California. These were the most prolific flowers on my property this year. #wildflowers #photography #nature #NorthernCalifornia

Gentiana asclepiadea - Willow Gentian

In the N Hemisphere the winter days are shortening quickly. I think it's time for something bright. Willow gentian should have finished flowering by now but you may find some seed pods.

Mycena tenerrima from Pacific County, Washington. This tiny and widespread Mycena is in Mycena sect. Sacchariferae due to the powdery cap texture, stem with long setae and disc at the stem base.

A fungus photo a day: First powdercap/Cystoderma amianthinum of the season yesterday. You can see why they got that name from the texture of the cap. The fancy sheath around the stipe is described as “granular” or “flaky” but I just call it fancy. #fungifriends #fungi #mycology #naturephotography
