Kindness is on my mind today. I was balancing coffee, a plate and the elevator button. A woman I did not know said, “Hey, let me help you.” and hit the button for me, asked my floor, pushed that button and said, have a great day. I thanked her. She made my life easier.

Ever notice how managers make themselves feel important, but true leaders make you feel important? That small difference in behavior changes everything — trust, respect, and the way teams thrive. #TIGERS6Principles #leadership

Is competition the only way a person can stand out in a collaborative work environment? What are the conditions where competition turns capitalism toxic? These are questions we are asking now and would love add your thoughts to our think tank. Care to share? buff.ly/BcAkSVd

Leaders, you don’t build this dynamic by force. You build it through modeling trust: following through, listening actively, and acknowledging others' value. You reinforce it by inviting interdependence—creating space for others to contribute meaningfully and visibly.

Motivation is something you create within yourself. Leaders who create an employee development environment that is collaborative and conducive to others' achievement and improvement create and environment for motivation to grow.

Where do you do your best thinking? I think best when I am on the move. Here is one of my favorite places, where I can noodle things on the way up and pause here to summarize some thoughts. I have been thinking about the ugly under belly of competition VS collaboration.

I’ve seen top-down leaders unintentionally kill innovation. Not because they meant to—but because no one taught them how trust works.

What’s the worst team dynamic you’ve experienced?

Instars.
A new word for me. I always wondered what a butterfly’s cocoon stage was labeled scientifically. Have you ever evolved personally and went through a cocoon stage?
I remember the day that it dawned on me that my own leadership style was so competitive, it felt shameful. buff.ly/CjfJjLV

The biggest myth about collaborative leadership? That it’s soft. Real collaboration is rigorous, bold, and scalable. That’s what I write about in Stronger Than Silos.

Today is a never before lived day. A Monday you have never lived before.

When we are shifting our mindset from being competitive to collaborative, it won’t happen by thinking about it. The mind will work to lock you into what you know. Today is a never before lived day. Let that sink in.
