I've got a break in the cooking and now I don't know what to do with myself. It's too early to make the last dish on my list. If I make it now, it won't be warm when folks arrive. I've got like an hour and a half to do random things and then it's back to cooking!

I did an epic amount of chopping today to make tomorrow's cooking easier. But I'm in my mid 40s so now everything hurts. Thanking PastMaya for buying this heating low back massage pillow. Clutch move.

In my last scholarship presentations of the day, the class was chatty pre-presentation & we were talking about Thanksgiving & so I polled them on if they were team Pumpkin Pie or team Sweet Potato pie. Shockingly, this class in NC was mostly team Pumpkin. Who has failed them? Team Sweet Potato 4EVA!

Real "A House with Good Bones" by @tkingfisher.com vibes on our Sunday walk. This wasn't even a third of the vultures on that part of the Riverwalk.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Pretty sure hundreds of people just here on Bluesky warned that the rush to mass-hire unvetted ICE agents was going to result in things like this.

And if it means the police and ICE become enemies, that would be awesome.

I feel more like this with every passing year.

We need a party that is committed to preserving, protecting & improving life. We don’t need people intent on endlessly negotiating how much humanity we deserve or if we deserve any at all.

We don’t need a society built around manufactured scarcity.
This pretty much sums up the entire ideological dispute between the two American political parties.

What they are arguing about, on almost all issues, is either methodology or magnitude. That is literally it.

The party of We Will Kill You vs the party of We Will Let You Die.
To be clear, Lindsey Graham, an American senator, has gone on the most popular Sunday morning current events show in the country and suggested that we drop nuclear bombs on Palestinians.

While they may differ in methodology, both parties agree that Palestinians should be eliminated.

Most folks commenting on this are focusing on Thanksgiving travel. But I think if this happens it will also impact package delivery because a lot of that moves across the country by plane. So this is a one-two whammy for Thanksgiving & Christmas.
The US Department of Transportation might be forced to close the airspace in certain parts of the country if the government shutdown continues into next week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.

There's nothing "moderate" about surrendering in exchange for "strong assurances" from congressional Republicans. That's just stupid political malpractice. Republicans are losing this fight, and Dems should hold the line!

That's quite the gut punch. Teen Vogue has consistently been one of the savviest, most unapologetic source of political news out there. No. I'm not kidding. They came out swinging in 2016 and didn't look back.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
