🤦🏿‍♂️They've got Franklin the Turtle out here making official statements and denials?

"Kids, it wasn't me! I would never! They deepfaked me! And besides, I'm Canadian anyway."

- Franklin, probably

This Great American crashout would be funny if it weren't all so serious.

Pros of the neocon true believers: they are ready to kill for constitutional democracy.
Is it possible that there are now issues where I am to the right of Bill Kristol??

For that matter, equity's strongest soldiers are largely non-ideological, and not "woke" at all, but "asleep". They believe in a better America and that it has been betrayed. They don't really get the trans thing, let alone the abolition of gender they in fact think it's weird, but they support you.

I say this to say if my 71 year old white Dad, who faithfully bought his only granddaughter target cards for every holiday including like national peanut butter Day and is dependent on delivery commerce can tell Target to shove it, I don't want to hear it from others.

Victory! SBCTA is cancelling the ONT Tesla Tunnel project - which would have duplicated BRT with an tunnel for cars - after construction costs escalated to $1-2 B. Time to pivot to electrification and 15 minute service on the San Bernardino line, planning for future multi-use heavy rail to ONT.

A fantastic read. Some ice cold moments: “For years, the thing with Nuzzi was that however frustrating her behavior might be, almost everyone agreed that she was a good writer… As recently as a few weeks ago, people were still saying this.”

It does look like Molotov-Ribbentrop all over again, in that clearly nobody checked with Poland. "European fighter jets will be stationed in Poland." The Polish air force may be surprised to learn that was ever in question, seeing as they are, uh, Europeans with fighter jets stationed in Poland.

I don't know how bad this is on the GOP side, but Democrats have a huge "club" problem. There are dozens of people I could name off the top of my head who have more to say about housing policy than Larry Summers but unfortunately, none of them are DC insiders.
NEW: Before the recent Epstein disclosures, Larry Summers was poised to lead the economic policy plank for the Democrats' "Project 2029" effort at the Center for American Progress. He signed off on a housing policy paper CAP was prepping for next week.

Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

Notice how people are using this about Elon's trillion dollar deal, which happens in 10 years IFF:

- The ai bubble doesn't pop
- He makes an army of 1 million robots
- He octuples Tesla's value
- He doesn't die
Etc

It's very much subjunctive, very much future tense. And yet.
There's an interesting grammatical tense used only to talk about powerful, wealthy people, where they have simultaneously done the thing, are doing the thing, and will do the thing.

Totally divorced from the concept of linear time, the only important element is: important person and thing.
