We live close to Italy (eg Sicily check out hourly volcanic eruption at Mount Stromboli), Greece (Athens,Meteora, Delphi, Hydra,Thessaloniki) or Turkey (Istanbul, Cappadocia). But from Atlanta -Colombia (Parque del Cafe, Medillin, Cartagena, Leticia(Amazon) and/or Peru (Cusco for Macchu Picchu)?

Do you have time to go to the big Buddha (and Tai O) or Sai Kung Pier? Sai Kung has amazing fish restaurants by the pier and boat trips to beaches on nearby islands (like 10mins) . Or you could take a short ferry to Lamma Island from Central . Go to Sok Kwu Wang Ferry Terminal (beach+restaurants)

It’s their new waterpark

Are you going to visit the old town of Macau? It’s really lovely. It looks like Portugal. They have their own cuisine (Portuguese and Macause cuisine combined) and the famous nata cakes. I also visited a copy of the Beijing summer palace in Zuhai called-New Yuanming Palace

The HK history Museum was always very nice and immersive but I think it might be closed because of renovations and other issues..the temples like Ch lin Nunnery and Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple are beautiful, too.

Hopefully the weather is better than and you can go to Victoria Peak and ride the cable car to the Big Buddha and visit Tai O. BTW the Ozone skybar inside ICC is fun. They also have an observation platform. You can visit IFC and Bank of China for free. Ocean Park recently opened an indoor waterpark.
August 17, 2025 at 12:28 PM
But no Ocean Park or are you still going? Ocean Park has always been the major park in HK with usually more visitors than HKDL.
It’s normal weather for this time of year in HK. When I lived in HK, I wanted to visit Ocean Park for my birthday in May, it’s free but I couldn’t because of heavy rain..
August 17, 2025 at 12:01 PM
If you venture off HKDL you get to Discovery Bay which feels like a resort for westerners
I like the temples in Kowloon eg Chi lin nunnery
Tai O is close to the Big Buddha

When you go to HK, I hope you can check out Sai Kung and go to one of the islands (eg Shark island)-Sai Kung has the best beaches and fish restaurants,
Lamma Island is also lovely, so is Tai O , Shek O is easily combined with Stanley and Repulse Beach near Ocean Park

Sorry I mixed up this park with Wildlands Zoo in NL. They have the boat ride.

Was it during Wintertraum?

Why don’t you visit cochem castle and Eltz Castle?
May 25, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Are you going to drive from Luxembourg via Trier (pretty Roman German city) along the famous Mosel river road with castles and quaint towns, eg Cochem (which I think looks a bit like the castle at Epic) and Eltz castle and Rhine valley road with castles/city to Koblenz and Cologne?
May 24, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Are you going to check out Brussels’ Grand Place? It‘s such a beautiful main Square?
May 23, 2025 at 5:33 PM
This church has the Michelangelo statue inside
May 22, 2025 at 6:48 PM
I hope you can take a canal cruise
May 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM
Perhaps you can check out the white cliffs of Dover. I prefer the impressive Seven sisters between Brighton/Eastbourne but Dover is nice too.
Are you going to stay near Richmond? Richmond Park/Wimbledon Park has lots of deer you see them if you drive around. Richmond is lovely and well-known.
May 17, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Maybe go to Madurodam although they don’t have coasters but attractions with animatronics and miniature models (17mins drive)?
May 16, 2025 at 11:12 AM
I was wondering what the difference is between them. I think the one in Imst is actually in the Alps (hence Alpine coaster)whereas the one in Andorra is in the Pyrenees. I checked their length is pretty much the same. But Imst has an altitude difference of 500m.
It’s not far from James Bond Museum
May 10, 2025 at 6:29 AM
Are you going to go to San Sebastián for the oldest coaster in the world? Parque de Atracciones Monte Igueldo?
May 9, 2025 at 9:09 PM
I was confused that the world‘s longest mountain coaster is in Andorra because the world’s longest alpine coaster is in Imst (near Innsbruck). I don’t know whether you went.
May 9, 2025 at 9:05 PM
I don’t know where you are heading to? But Carcassonne (the fortress) is amazing. If you are nearby definitely stop there even for lunch
There are flamingos (sea and water bodies) around Narbonne up to Montpellier.
Figures (Dali) and Girona are well-known too maybe for your conference

I‘d try to include Luxor-short flight or night train. It’s on a par with Paris or Rome. The Nile cruise is impressive too but you could just do Luxor.
We did Amman (for Petra) and then Cairo with Royal Jordanian. Amman-Jerusalem is very close (an 1h). We took a taxi to the border and then bus.

As in the Gulf states? Or really Egypt, Jordan, Israel?
May 8, 2025 at 5:16 PM
How about the Turkish parks&coasters: Vialand in Istanbul and Land of Legends in Antalya? Any plans to visit?Isn’t Land of Legends getting a new Star Trek coaster? It’s considered Europe
BTW there are many budget flights to Rhodes (Greece), ferry 30mins and then 4h to Antalya
