"My ancestors are smiling at me, can you say the same?" -Some guy in Skyrim.

God, I hope not, because my forbears were a bunch of slave-owning losers. I hope to live my life in such a way that their souls are mortified.

I joined Facebook in 2006, and it was affirming and light-hearted. I loved it. Now it's a cesspool created by an algorithm that just reinforces my own notions and exists to create outrage.

So I am done. Over the weekend, I am deleting everything via redact.dev. And requesting account deletion.

My Rep is a ghoul, but damn right I am calling him.
They're going to cut Medicaid through the budget reconciliation.

Johnson can spare only one vote.

Make those calls.

A Venn Diagram of those upset about us not calling a body of water the "right" name, and those that think dead naming people is hilarious...would simply be a circle.

“The true essence of a dictatorship is in fact not its regularity but its unpredictability and caprice; those who live under it must never be able to relax, must never be quite sure if they have followed the rules correctly or not.”

― Christopher Hitchens

Jokes on them, I don't need to relax.

Christianity has a long history of being out of power and advocating for undesirables. We are just out of practice.
Churches have a long history of being safe havens — for immigrants and others
For centuries, houses of worship have served as havens for people needing refuge — and, in recent decades, sanctuary from the U.S. government.

Time for a new e-reader. Whats the consensus now? Kobo or Kindle? My library is currently all .mobi, but I have no issue converting those to .epub. Leaning toward the Kobo due to being able to check books out from the Public Library, but reticent to change after a decade of Kindles. #booksky?

Now that Christmas is over, I would like to remind people that besides giving gifts, St. Nicholas also allegedly punched Arius (for Heresy) in the face at the First Council of Nicea.
Neat fact, that would make going to see mall Santa's much more interesting.

Anything that makes Warhammer more in the news I am for. Where I live its still a very niche hobby and would kill for some mainstream interest. Glad the company is becoming more valuable.

My US Senators are both MAGA, my Federal Rep is hardcore MAGA, and my State Rep and State Senator are both MAGA.

So I can't influence the next four years politically. Time to find a local organization helping people and back them to the fucking hilt. Recommendations for South Carolina groups?

You know that fun refrain in the Rudolph Christmas song "you'll go down in History. Like Columbus!"? The implication is that Rudolph is a genocidal slaver.

What happened on the Island of Misfit Toys, Rudolph? What happened?!?

For my fellow Christian's, who like me, are gutted by the recent election. "Hope doesn’t ask for grand gestures or proclamations of faith renewed. It asks for the smallest acts—a bite of bread, a sip of water, the will to sit up. Hope does not come blazing, it flickers softly, stubbornly.”

So I took a stroll down right-wing influencer Instagram and TicTok. And its all anger. Pure unadultered rage...but its not pointed at anything in particular. Its so peculiar, and I learned seed-oil is a very hot topic in that space weirdly. I do not even know if that rage could become empathy.

These "new" modem and router combo's from Spectrum are the bane of my existence. Fine if you are just doing DHCP, but if you want it bridged or a static WAN, Spectrum is going to have a problem every time.

Never was on Twitter/X, but got on Threads when it released. My main issue with threads was the on election night my entire feed was all post from 4-12 hours ago. The algorithm is terrible for current events conversation. Any better here?
