Bank analysts: Our baseline assumes no face-eating

Leopard: Chomp chomp chomp
J.P. Morgan econs on Trump’s latest are “increasingly concerned that the policy mix may tilt into an unintentionally far less business-friendly stance. The sustained 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico set to start this weekend is materially different than the tariff increases built into our baseline.”

there are just a slew of people out there whose reaction to crisis is militant cynicism, a kind of inverse vainglory. calling actually does a lot. anyone who’s ever spent time in these offices will tell you that.
To folks saying "Calling does nothing!" and then... not suggesting any actions instead, even small ones? Please, save us both some time, don't bother posting at me, and just block me now. I'll use the time to take action (not JUST call, fyi) & you can use it to... stare into the abyss of doom? 🤷🏻‍♀️

People are dying because Trump illegally cut off foreign aid. He’s purging civil servants and law enforcement officers deemed insufficiently loyal. He unilaterally suspended Medicaid and froze trillions in funding. All of this is unlawful! And Democrats are … touting areas of bipartisan compromise?

Tariffs are neither a Swiss Army knife for domestic problems nor an effective stick to discipline other nations (as Trump believes). But they can be useful as a shield allowing other (social, environmental, industrial) policies to do their work. My latest www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/t...

I see snarking on Dems from Harris on down for making a point abt following the constitution today. And yes sorta cold comfort given the larger context. But it seems reasonable and not terrible/cringey to note that when yr on the losing end you opt to be neither a whiny bitch nor a seditionist.

it is so important to remember that IN THE MOMENT there was no one who thought jan. 6 was some innocent protest gone awry. everyone recognized it for what it was.
At the time, everyone, including Republicans, understood how bad it was. Then, brick by brick, they built a foundation of lies to justify doing what they know, deep down, to be wrong. Trump betrayed the country. And so do they.

Elon Musk’s pro-AfD commentary in German went online on Saturday ahead of being published on Sunday in the flagship paper of the Axel Springer media group, which also owns Politico. The editor of the German paper’s opinion section resigned in protest
